🏆Brad Evans Scholarship:
Today, we honored former Harbor View students with the Brad Evans Scholarship Award. Each year the HVPFO awards an annual scholarship to two outstanding graduating Seniors of Corona del Mar High School who attended Harbor View Elementary when younger. Congratulations to Mimi and Andrew for being this year’s award recipients. Mimi wrote about the support she received from the Harbor View staff and how she wasn’t forced to fit into a box and was allowed to be herself. Andrew wrote about his experience in the tech room and how that environment helped him evolve a deeper mindset. Both students gave special shoutouts to their teachers! In the fall, Mimi will be attending UC Berkeley and Andrew is going to Georgia Tech. We are so proud of these amazing seniors and remember, “Once a Viking, Always a Viking!”

The end of the school year is busy, so we’re making one part a little easier with a way to contribute to a group gift for our wonderful Harbor View staff! While families will thank classroom teachers in their own way, this group gift is for the many staff members who help shape our children’s days, including aides, office staff, custodians, cafeteria team, specialists, music & PE teachers, counselors, librarians, IMPACT teachers, and more.
To make it simple, we’re collecting contributions and splitting them evenly into gift cards for every support staff member on the list, to be delivered by June 2nd. There is absolutely no obligation to participate, just an easy option for families who’d like to contribute.
✨ Ways to give (any amount): • Zelle: [email protected] (memo: “Support Staff Gift”) • Cash/check: Front office, attention PFO • Deadline: Friday, May 22nd
Thank you for helping us show appreciation to the incredible staff who support our students every day! 💛
Last week our second graders took a field trip to the Dana Point Ocean Institute! Students enjoyed a lab lesson which included four stations: magnifiers for looking at teeth and bones, an activity to learn about safe fishing practices, habitat exploration, and the tank for touching the sea stars and urchins. They also saw sharks and rays in a larger tank. Afterwards, they headed out to the natural plant habitat for snacks and playtime before going down to the beach to enjoy the rocks, water, and some shallow tide pools. It was a beautiful day with nice weather! Great field trip!
More of Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week!!💕 Our students showered their beloved teachers and staff with thoughtful gifts, sweet notes, flowers, and so many acts of appreciation throughout the week. We also treated our amazing teachers and staff to some delicious special menu items including a Beach Hut Luau Lunch Box, Ho Sum Bistro salads, and an incredible cheesecake dessert made by a talented Harbor View parent, Kathy Habour! We wrapped up the week with a fun TK Burger Truck celebration!
We love our teachers and staff so much and hope they truly felt how appreciated they are all week long. Thank you for all you do for our students and school community every single day! ✨
Thank you to our teacher appreciation committee for organizing all these special moments!
