we’re coming up on 2 years since i got this warehouse. it feels trite to say this, but it’s turned into much more than i ever expected, and being part of this place has been the most interesting and fulfilling work of my life, by far. this video is me reflecting a little bit on the past couple years, and talk about what needs to happen for highside to stick around for a long time.

i’ve explained the idea behind @highsideworkshop a LOT of times, but it always feels a little incomplete...you just have to be there.
@jonah_levine spent a ridiculous amount of time making this tour video, and it does a WAY better job of showing what Highside is like than i can do with words. watching this makes me even more stoked about the space, because it helps me see it through other people’s eyes. check our bio for the link to the full video, it’s really, really good.
i feel like half my posts say something like this, but i truly cannot believe what this place has turned into, and more importantly, how many amazing people i’ve become friends as a result of everything that’s going on here. when i got the keys a year ago, my wildest dreams for what could happen in the next year weren’t even close to how it has ended up. i truly cannot wait to see what happens this year.

i’ve been trying to figure out what to say about the last show @highsideworkshop for almost a month now, and i’m still not sure what to say, so here’s what i said that night.
i truly cannot express my gratitude to everyone who made this place what it was. i meant it when i said getting to be part of highside has been the biggest privilege of my life.

the highside era is coming to a close. our final show is august 18th. bring everyone you know, we’re blowing the roof off for the last show…it’s free.
this place has been the most incredible experience…i truly cannot describe how special it has been to have so many fucking incredible shows, meet so many wonderful people, and see what’s possible in a high-trust community space. everyone who’s helped make it what it is, thank you from the bottom of my heart. i hope i see you here one more time.

Our friends and family came from all over the country for the premiere of Southbound, a feature-length film made by @jonah_levine and @mcgee , documenting their (and @jesse.evers ) journey from LA to southern Mexico. It was really great to see so many new faces in here :) The movie will be live on YouTube soon, and getting submitted to film festivals in the coming months!!

Highside is now available to rent as a photo/video studio! You’re welcome to use any of the tools, vehicles, and machines in the space as props, and every part of the space is available: the main floor, the green room, the loft, the office, and the roof. We also have both white and black backdrops for shooting portraits, art photography, or anything else your heart desires ;)
@charliecomehome and @_dage shot a music video here, and we’ve had everything from album cover shoots to documentary scenes to motorcycle photography happening here over the past year.
