Are you like me and love seeing ferns unfurling at this time of year? They dance in the wind like mini sculptures ready to pop and share their beauty. As a child I'd gently pull the tight coil open slightly and watch it spring back with anticipation.
I decided to capture these in a new jewellery surface design.
Find these and more of my work in Hayfield, venue 4 the May Bank holiday weekend. At Ashlar Studio next door to the Pack Horse Pub in the village centre.
There are 6 artists at our venue so do pop in for a warm welcome, browse and chat.
10- 4pm each day.
There are 8 other venues to see, so grab a trail map from one of the venues and explore!

Artist of the Day: Steve Pollington
Today we are featuring the beautiful stained glass artistry of Steve Pollington. Steve’s creative process is uniquely bound to a sense of journey and exploration; all of his work is designed and meticulously crafted in his floating studio aboard the narrowboat Maggie.
Living a nomadic lifestyle along the canals of the UK, Steve draws endless inspiration from the shifting water, riparian wildlife, and seasonal flora that frame his daily travels. His pieces trap the vivid colors of nature within structured lead lines, catching and transforming the daylight just like the sun striking the water outside his studio window.
You can find Steve at Venue 4, located at the Whaley Bridge Uniting Church on 35a Buxton Road. Mooring up for the event, he joins a brilliant group of nine artists at this central location, bringing a luminous glow to the collective exhibition.
Whaley Bridge Open Studios takes place from Saturday May 23rd to Monday May 25th 2026. Be sure to visit Venue 4 over the Bank Holiday weekend to see how Steve captures natural light in glass and to chat with him about life on the water.

Artist of the Day: Paul Morin
Today we are featuring the work of Paul Morin, a painter who masterfully explores the dramatic intersections of light and atmosphere. Paul often returns to the timeless themes of seascapes and landscapes, using these natural subjects to study colour harmonies and the complex balance of composition.
His paintings capture more than just a view; they capture a moment in time. Whether it is the play of light on a working boat or the shifting mood of a coastal horizon, Paul’s work invites the viewer to step into the scene and feel the environment. His use of texture and tone brings a classic, emotive quality to every canvas, celebrating the rugged beauty of the world around us.
You can visit Paul at Venue 1, which is his own creative space located at 20 George Street in Whaley Bridge. As the sole artist at this venue, it offers a wonderful opportunity to see a wide collection of his work in a dedicated, personal setting.
Whaley Bridge Open Studios takes place from Saturday May 23rd to Monday May 25th 2026. Make sure to stop by Venue 1 over the Bank Holiday weekend to meet Paul and experience these atmospheric paintings for yourself.

Artist Feature of the Day: Hill House Ceramics
For today’s featured artist, I have the very special privilege of sharing a glimpse into the world of Zoe and Oscar Hill. This mother and son duo create exquisite ceramics that are a true testament to their unique bond and shared creative vision.
On Monday, I was invited into their home and studio in Chapel-en-le-Frith, and it was an experience that has stayed with me. Zoe and her husband Simon recognised at an early age that Oscar possessed a rare gift for three-dimensional sculpture. That talent was harnessed through the medium of clay, and today, the work they produce together is nothing short of remarkable.
Their ceramics are deeply influenced by nature, embracing both its perfections and its imperfections. Talking to them both was easily the highlight of my year and an experience that filled my heart with genuine joy. This is creativity at its absolute best, born from a relationship that is truly something to be in awe of.
I am certainly planning to invest in their work, both physically and metaphorically, and I encourage you to do the same. You can find Zoe and Oscar at Venue 4, located at the Whaley Bridge Uniting Church on 35a Buxton Road. They will be exhibiting from Saturday May 23rd to Monday May 25th 2026.
Make sure to visit Venue 4 during the Open Studios weekend to see these soulful pieces in person. It is an encounter you will not want to miss. That kind of heart-led connection is exactly what makes the Open Studios event so special. 🧡 Sue @twenty_2creations
