LE CAPITALISME MADONNE (Clumsy English translation at the back!) Dears,
Probably no one has the attention span for long reads on Instagram anymore, but for this 1st of May we wanted to share a text we wrote a few months ago, with four hands across two languages. It’s a kind of fairytale rooted in our real-life experience as curators and cultural workers beneath a glass ceiling, where our own desires are reflected in the promise of light. Nothing about the story of Madonna and her child is singular; it belongs to a system that feeds on devotion and distributes light selectively. Corruption and nepotism are a structural part of work in the arts and cultural sector, where quiet arrangements shape who is seen. Under late-stage capitalism, cultural work comes wrapped in gentle exploitation. Exhausting not through frontal violence, but through a kind of moral varnish. For the third and last edition, hhhhh invited artist Bruta @bruta_tk Bruta presented a variation of «Ce que j’avais à te dire (O que eu tinha a te dizer)», a monologue performed and recorded in São Paulo during her residency at Casa Líquida. By remaining bodily absent at KRONE COURONNE, she anchors the work around a voice shaped by spontaneous speech, by transcription and reinterpretation, in which different times and bodies overlap. 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗹'𝗲́𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦! 👁️ La seconde exposition de Lari Medawar et Danniel Tostes, VISIONS, a fermé ses portes le 4 décembre dernier. Le finissage a d’abord fait la part belle aux travaux collaboratifs de cette exposition, en rendant hommage aux collaborations avec l’art thérapeute Khadija Reynes, Cap Loisir, l’association autrement-aujourd’hui - avec Solvej Dufour Andersen - ou encore des ateliers d’écriture de Mondes imaginaires. Puis la maison d’édition orale hhhhh publishing a activé une publication vivante en invitant l’artiste Léo GNatorp à offrir une performance inédite en clôture de cette année de résidence 20025. La publication des expositions VISIBLE et VISIONS est désormais disponible au FMAC. Le FMAC tient à remercier chaleureusement Lari Medawar et Danniel Tostes pour leur grande générosité et l'engagement dont ils ont fait preuve pour se plonger dans la collection du FMAC et visibiliser les plus vulnérables. 🧐 Pour information: hhhhh publishing est une maison d’édition fugitive qui travaille la publication par l’oralité. Elle n’imprime pas, mais crée des contextes où la parole se partage dans des temporalités et des espaces situés, là où l’écoute permet d’accueillir ce qui ne trouve pas sa place dans les formats institutionnels habituels. La pratique artistique de Léo G-Natorp place la voix au cœur d’un processus expérimental. À travers un travail de boucles et de superpositions, sa voix devient à la fois paysage, rythme et mélodie, créant des univers où l’intime rencontre l’infini. In her performances, Bruta seeks to reach an altered state of consciousness from which a creature may emerge. This creature animates her as much as she animates it. With it, she traces the contours of her human condition, starting from her Blackness and trans identity to go far beyond. This creative process is shared, giving rise to a collective writing, shaped by multiple bodies. FINISSAGE Sa, 18.10.2025 Listening Loréleï Nelle @leaurelei hosted by hhhhh oral publishing house @hhhhhpublishing SOMA is hosting the oral publishing house hhhhh for a series of publications on its listening platform. For this second edition, hhhhh invites artist-researcher Loréleï Nelle. Loréleï presents a variation of DESPERATE FOR (crying songs): an improvisation for electroacoustic harp, where each vibration is also a way of touching, a practice of tenderness. What do tears become when they begin to vibrate? With sweating hands, with the tongue brushing its inner organs, Loréleï composes inside the body of the harp, like in an abyss. It’s where sonic condensations form, each one a gesture of care. Intimate, loving, aqueous, and salty. Like an infra-language: a subtle articulation that builds bonds where words fail. The lotto cards function both as a tangible asset to be shared collectively – making the decision-making process visible – and as an actual speculative possibility of change. This workshop draws attention to precarious working conditions in the arts and advocates for more sustainable approaches. 17:00 Mycelium Meditation with Maya Hottarek @hottarek An invitation to connect — to one another and to the invisible networks that bind us. For the second iteration of this series, hhhhh is inviting the artist-researcher Loréleï Nelle. For this occasion Loréleï proposes a variation of DESPERATE FOR (crying songs) : an improvisation for electroacoustic harp. In this piece, "strings and tears resonate through their shared susceptibilities ; the strings are voices that are wishes and when they are given off, what sounds do they make?" Based between Annemasse and Paris, Loréleï develops an installative and sonic practice exploring what brings beings, things and ideas into relation. Drawing on formal, sonic and theoretical lexicons, her work invokes faith to reflect on commitment, and mourning as a way of inhabiting breaks, learning to think and feel from collapsed spaces in times of crisis. With her harp, she explores these cordialities that hold us together, embracing improvisation as a methodology of attempts toward radical listening. BACKROOM KRONE COURONNE SOMA x hhhhh publishing Listening with @inesmaritaschaerer and SRTN hosted by @hhhhhpublishing 23.8.2025 Ines Marita Schärer x SRTN I speak from my diaphragm / a song to your bones SOMA is hosting the oral publishing house hhhhh for a series of publications on the listening platform. For the first edition of this series, hhhhh invited Ines Marita Schärer. Ines proposed a listening in collaboration with the sound artist SRTN, that unfolded as a layering of voiced words and a low-frequency composition. Moving back and forth across the threshold of the perceptible: beyond language into breath and vocal fragments, beyond hearing into the body. Agitation rises, almost anxious, then releases into slowness and grounding. The piece draws on Ines’ fascia practice, where slowness and precision cultivate deep layers of sensation. Subtle frequency variations and slow beatings generate movement and vibration, evoking tectonic shifts, river flows, or volcanic tremors. Breath and voice, rooted in the diaphragm right where tension and anxiety sit, carry the solitary toward a collective. For the first iteration of this series, hhhhh is inviting ines marita schärer. hhhhh is a fugitive publishing house that rethinks textual publication through orality. hhhhh does not produce printed matter but inhabits time and space as publication. It is a way of sharing what needs the sheltering opacity of fugitive oral speech in order to be told. hhhhh has no fixed place, but takes place in many places, transforming the publishing house into a place of encounter and radical listening. For this occasion, Ines proposes a piece that takes the shape of a “guided session” unfolding through different stages and states, including a low-frequency composition developed in collaboration with musician SRTN, exploring the vibrational impact of sound on fascia and the collective body. Ines Marita Schärer is a multidisciplinary artist and fascia practitioner based in Brussels. Their work spans across poetry, performance, sound art and experimental music. Through writing and voicing, Ines' work attempts at embodying words, wording the body, sensing words, and wording senses. With speculations and imaginings, they want to test and rehearse interdependencies and interconnections with other beings, entities and environments. They are particularly interested in sensibility and vulnerability as constitutive forces. This practice is derived from somatic research, informed by the given context, permeable for various forms of knowledge, nourished and driven by thinkers, co-thinkers, collaborators, and allies. We gathered and we listened — not to understand, but to welcome what trembles and seeks form. Words were spoken with a lowered voice, carried in songs, or written on small notes hung in the trees. . . ….. .. ….. . . ...
