Storytime! Anybody who knows me knows that I LOVE the bus. I’m all about it. Always on the bus. Can’t get enough of the bus. One day in 2023 something unusual happened— my bus the B60 was free for a limited time. I didn’t know HOW it happened but there it was! A free bus! We were all so excited about it! Early 2025, I had sort of heard of @zohrankmamdani . Some guy. Tax the rich, universal childcare. Sounded good, but could we do it? It felt too scary to even dream. Turns out, that free bus program was Mamdani’s program! He had made my life better before I even knew who he was. And he was going to expand this program to the whole city as mayor. When I heard his story of running for the bus to get to school, I knew he was different than any other “representative” we’d ever had. Like me, like many of us, he was a green Metrocard kid. He knew about running for those buses to get to school on time in an entire ass other borough!!! Clearly, he was the mayor for us. We knew it would be a fight, overshadowed as we were by a (disgraced!) political giant. We had to get creative! We spread the word about confusing AF rank choice voting, dressed up like Bagel Guys, made movies, sang songs, and showed up. We as feminists rejected yet another s3xual predator trying to seize power. On the hottest day of my entire ass life, we WON! Against all odds, we WON. With that victory secure, I collapsed in joy (and heat exhaustion). But You-know-who still didn’t get that no means no! We had to get back at it! We canvassed, made more films, more art. We repudiated the lie that g3nocide and capitalist violence, the violence of wealth inequality, is acceptable. We maintained our vision of OUR multicultural city against attacks from white nationalists and Islamophobes who think they can tell us about our way of life or what keeps us safe when they’ve never so much as set foot in the subway. Gimme a break!!! And we WON AGAIN. This week I saw an NYC I am starting to recognize for the first time in a while. Now comes the best part— the opportunity to really go for our goals in the movement we’ve built together. Onward— on a fast and free bus into the future!

It was such a blast to visit Montpelier for the premiere of @itwillhappentousagain at @gmffestival . We had so much fun spending the weekend there and meeting all of the locals and talented filmmakers. Montpelier was so welcoming and full of mist and stars and @breadandpuppet street art and beautiful back alleys to prowl around in. When writer/dir @blissscat first pitched the film we to me in 2023 it was my first trip to Vermont. A film about return and cycles and friends, it was fitting we return for our first screening. julia and i first met in march 2016 while we were auditioning for the purchase film conservatory. i hoped that we would both get into the program, decide to go, and eventually become friends, but i knew it was possible that we would never see each other again. 8 years later we’ve had the adventure of a lifetime, goofing around, following our dreams, graduating film school, bringing to life the spaces we want to be in that dont yet exist, surviving, growing up, learning how to be human, resisting, resting, writing, making @baba.yaga.smoked.me.out , our first film out of college and hopefully the first of many projects to come. you show me how to be brave and you always remind me of the value of laughter and magical monsters. happy happy birthday!! 💖🎂 📸@sergol999 somehow not pictured but he took like half of these pics
