Oh look: it was this ethereal beauty's birthday this past Thursday. We spent the glorious spring day at the @brooklynbotanic , where the cherry blossoms were still in full, splend'rous bloom. My love for @anne.daniel.337 gets deeper with each passing year.
if you’re free next Friday night, the rarest of rarities is occurring—a gig by @pineapplestheband ! 9pm @lucky13saloon in Gowanus! You should cast all earthly choices aside and opt for for some real ROCKING!
Oh and it’s also a @spinaltap tribute by @fbomb_nyc NYC! And guess, just guess, who’s singing SEX FARM?!
Took notice of El Don Taqueria & Grocery while on the bus last week, and between the positive reviews on Google maps and the recommendation from someone on a post on fb's awesome Eat Something New In Queens group the other day (which you should join if you live in NYC!), I decided to check it out. It’s a cute little Mexican grocery on Roosie/54 with a couple of tables.
I tried one each lengua/cabeza/arabes: the lengua and cabeza are taquitos (4” tortillas) and are good, especially with the salsa chile arbol. The arabes was very good, with sweet, smoky heat provided by the chipotle sauce with which it’s made. The flour tortilla, standard on arabes, becomes a little gummy from the internal heat and moisture, which I’m not crazy about (and this is why I’m generally not much of a fan of burritos), but the flavor more than makes up for it.
Portions are a bit small, but that’s reflected by the low prices. I’ll definitely return to check out more of the menu.
A perfect day in NYC, reaffirming my love for it: visited the @whitneymuseum with my sweetie @anne.daniel.337 , and then @littleislandnyc for the first time by way of the @highlinenyc . But I needed to grab a bite beforehand, and decided to hit Los Mariscos in Chelsea Market. Been so long, too long, since I’ve been here; last time was pre-pandemic. Best-in-class Baja style fish tacos. If there are better in NYC, I’d love to know about them. Fish is delicious and cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, tender inside, nice spicy sauce and fresh slaw, excellent tortillas. Shrimp ceviche and Especial Ceviche (Shrimp, Clams, Scallops, and Octopus) also great. They’ll serve you a little cup of shrimp broth for free if you ask for it, and you should. They also have a raw bar that serves clams and oysters, tho I didn’t have any on this visit.
HEY SEXY PEOPLE!!! @pineapplestheband ARE PLAYING TOMORROW NIGHT, 8PM, at BAKER FALLS ON ALLEN ST!!! WE'RE GONNA PLAY THIS ROCKIN' FUCKIN' HIT! @bubblenyc IS PLAYING TOO, AT 9PM!
