first shaklee trip with my litto family to meet my big family Niko - swam a lot - met roger and more shaklee family from across the country - ate a many French fries and watermelon - drank smoothies - played in the sand a lot Heather - swam a lot - slept - had some pina coladas - got tanned - got massages I - did all do the above - went parasailing with my mama - connected with my shaklee fam - rested (big one) super grateful after 10 years of shaklee trips, I always dreamt of taking my own family to these. On August 19, 2024, I married my best friend. Every day I am filled with gratitude for all the blessings that have afforded me one of the greatest moments of my life. I married the absolute woman of my dreams in front of and surrounded by my loved ones. To be perfectly honest and transparent, there were many times in my life where I never thought I could have this, to exist in this world as a woman and marry another woman. My coming out experience was hard, filled with difficulty and many challenges. I was 15 when I was outted. I struggled accepting myself and being accepted by others. I had many moments of feeling unloved, sadness, anger, and many, many questions left unanswered. But at the end of what felt like the darkest and longest tunnel, I walked through, and I made it out alive. Love prevails. Each and every time, love prevails. I’ve shared many of others’ stories through my previous work as an editor, but never any of my own. And I guess with recent events, especially, and looking over these photos, I finally wanted to share a bit of mine. I am a woman. I am a lesbian. I am a Filipina. I am someone’s daughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend, and a wife. And I absolutely deserve to be loved and protected. I share this for the young me that needed to hear this. I share this for the young girl who may need this now more than ever. I share this because this is who I am, and more. I am proud of who I am and who I am becoming. I am proud of my wife and the life that we’re building. And I am so blessed to have the love in my life that I do. I look forward to the future that will be filled with goodness and I will continue to grow this family of mine that I have now.
