-Knowing from Afar-
-Book Design, 2025-
[Knowing from Afar] is a companion publication to the exhibition [Latent Science: Telepathy in the Shadow], marking the inaugural volume of the project [HERmit Script], an non-profit publishing plan by @hermit_space_ . The artworks featured in the exhibition are woven into three distinct chapters. Through excerpts and divergent writings orbiting each piece, the publication attempts to delineate the intersection of pan-psychological and pan-scientific inquiries.
In the design of this book, we sought to leverage the physical properties of paper as a medium to convey the hazy, the “grey zone” of telepathy—a subject that remains scientifically unproven yet impossible to debunk. We selected translucent paper, dividing the front and back of each page into a “Bright Side” and a “Dark Side”. The “Bright Side” features info, relating imagery rendered in white ink alongside the main body of the text and images, while the “Dark Side”carries the image boundaries and layouts defined by black ink and their corresponding captions. As the reader navigates between light and shadow, the two sides permeate and coalesce through the paper fibers, summoning the subtle silhouettes and paradoxical intimacy inherent to “telepathy”. Details of Temporal Clusters
Elisa Storelli @elisastorelli
2021
Watercolors, yarn installed on painted steel
135 x 135 cm
Temporal Clusters are mind maps of Storelli’s artistic practice and are used as a tool in her artistic research named chronomorphology: the study of how time changes shapes. One cluster is a diagram of notions. Concepts are positioned and connected in relation to one another to create a resonance of meanings. This form of diagrammatic writing is used by the artist to navigate through her thinking and to describe a possible correlation of ideas.
The exhibition ended on January 10.

This sculpture comes from Dahlem’s long-running series “23 Birdhouses for Our Neighboring Planets”, begun in 2003.
Imagining a far-future era when humans colonize outer space, the artist creates futuristic birdhouses designed for planets beyond Earth—each accompanied by objects and sculptural elements reflecting that planet’s unique character.
