We are delight to welcome curator and researcher Iris Long as our Guest Speaker for the ”Hidden Veins“ Walk & Talk tomorrow, 2 May. Departing from a conventional seated lecture, this session is designed as a site-specific, moving dialogue. As we navigate the exhibition space together, Iris will bring her extensive research on technological infrastructures and digital ecologies into direct contact with the artworks on display. The walk will examine the politics behind the ”invisibility“ of digital infrastructures and discuss how digital art can genuinely intervene in public and political life. Following the guided walk, the session will transition into an Open Conversation—a collective discussion inviting the audience, guest speaker, and student artists to think out loud together. We invite you to join us for this insightful afternoon!!! 📅 Date: Saturday, 2 May 📍 Venue: St James Hatcham Building, SE14 6AD 🔗 Discover more about Iris Long‘s practice: www.irislong.xyz] Programme Schedule: ▫️ 13:30 | Doors Open ▫️ 14:00 | Walk Begins ▫️ 14:30 | Open Conversation ▫️ 14:55 | Audience Q&A ▫️ 15:10 | Close #hiddenveins #irislong #goldsmiths #digitalart #artandinfrastructure

xuanguan opens its door to our dear friends! “Two Walls: Ordinary War Rehearsal”, a lecture performance by Ziyang Wu (@ziyang_wu_art ), on 18 April. Through this lecture performance, we are hoping to discuss the notion of war rehearsal and the possibility of responding to distant conflict through persistent daily practices. Every time we gather to discuss recent world events, we encounter the same unsettling ambiguity, lurching between rage, silence and flickering hope. We find ourselves inhibited in powers, unsure of what agency looks like from where we stand. We ask: when the common response to conflict grows unclear, how do we prepare ourselves to act? So, as our first event, we want to gather in our space with questions we feel compelled to sit with together. Our guest lecturer-performer, Ziyang Wu, will present his interactive AI simulation derived from his personal experience of sheltering from drone attacks in Kyiv, and from the survival principle known as the “two-wall rule”. The work presents a dual-layered narrative, in which an AI coldly calculates optimal survival postures across five surreal scenarios, while personal memories, dark humour, and philosophical reflections run underneath throughout. *This is a closed-door event. #war #rehearsal #art #ai #performance

Organized by -Vortex漩涡 @macaartcenter . Super happy to support the newest version of “Two Walls: Ordinary War Rehearsal” performed by beloved @ziyang_wu_art and most loved Xiaoyu Lu. Two Walls: Ordinary War Rehearsal Artist:Ziyang Wu Guest Artists:Iris Long, Xiaoyu Lu April 4th, 2026 19:30 - 21:00 Location📍 Fotografiska @fotografiska.shanghai No.127 Guangfu Road, Jing‘an District, Shanghai Two Walls: Ordinary War Rehearsal Ongoing Real-time AI Simulation & Lecture Performance “Two Walls - Ordinary War Rehearsal” is an interactive AI simulation and lecture performance, born from my personal experience of sheltering from drone attacks in Kyiv and the survival principle known as the “two-wall rule.” The piece presents a dual-layered narrative. On the surface, an AI (the “Sanctuary Algorithm”) coldly calculates the optimal posture to evade an attack in real-time across five surreal scenarios: a hotel, a border, a club, a train, and a park. Beneath this, an inner layer interweaves my personal memories, dark humor, and philosophical reflections through voice-overs, dialogue, and on-screen text. While war simulations typically focus on the macrocosm of combat, this work, through the form of a lecture performance, shifts the perspective entirely to individual survival under the shadow of war. The audience witnesses the AI’s brute-force calculation process alongside the absurd, insignificant, yet resilient struggle of an individual confronting the grand war machine. What is ultimately presented is not a film, but a playable philosophical fable, an “ordinary war rehearsal” that explores the very absurdity of survival in the face of algorithmic violence.

- -Knowing from Afar- -Book Design, 2025- [Knowing from Afar] is a companion publication to the exhibition [Latent Science: Telepathy in the Shadow], marking the inaugural volume of the project [HERmit Script], an non-profit publishing plan by @hermit_space_ . The artworks featured in the exhibition are woven into three distinct chapters. Through excerpts and divergent writings orbiting each piece, the publication attempts to delineate the intersection of pan-psychological and pan-scientific inquiries. In the design of this book, we sought to leverage the physical properties of paper as a medium to convey the hazy, the “grey zone” of telepathy—a subject that remains scientifically unproven yet impossible to debunk. We selected translucent paper, dividing the front and back of each page into a “Bright Side” and a “Dark Side”. The “Bright Side” features info, relating imagery rendered in white ink alongside the main body of the text and images, while the “Dark Side”carries the image boundaries and layouts defined by black ink and their corresponding captions. As the reader navigates between light and shadow, the two sides permeate and coalesce through the paper fibers, summoning the subtle silhouettes and paradoxical intimacy inherent to “telepathy”.
