Kickin off this month with a lil BTS of this piece I made for the American Asian group show at Avondale Arts Center on May 9
This work plays with the contrast between the vintage American Barbie box that’s glossy, plastic, and pink & and the elegance of the modern traditional filipiniana dress. It’s a little playful, a little nostalgic, and a lot about identity.
She doesn’t come with a purse or puppy. She comes with a balisong (butterfly knife) and a yoyo, because yes…Filipinos invented both. And a tabo cause IYKYK and I thought it was funny. A little nod to ingenuity and heritage.
The original doll design was by @carlylenuera and I was so inspired when I saw it. It made me feel really seen as a FilAm and I knew I wanted to bring it to life in my own way for this show.

I still can’t believe I did that! I feel like I was literally living in a Disney Movie. 5 days of extreme sun, torrential rain, a whole lotta hard work and a little sprinkle of magic.
They said to do a mural and make it personal….I said, say less. ✨
From my childhood dream of wanting to design for Disney, working at Animal Kingdom and operating Dinosaur the ride for a summer, losing an internship for Yellow Shoes and then gaining an internship for Walt Disney Imagineering…. I took my newly found interest in murals a little more seriously this year and now I’m out here doing a mural for Disney! I did that! So surreal, my 5 year old self would be so proud.

You can’t tell, but we just did a deep dive and were surrounded by jellyfish, explored the deep dark ocean wreckage (lowkey scary in the deep sea), danced by the grand staircase in the Titanic, and steered the ship wheel all in under an hour with no scuba certification required…link in bio if you’re tryina check this out or more Atlanta experiences like this

Really sad to have to share this, but unfortunately our House of Daydreamers × The Alden × DoMA | Light the Way show Part II at @thealdenatl on May 17th is CANCELED.
There was a fire in the residential building above The Alden. While the restaurant itself did not burn, it most likely sustained water damage and the building is currently shut down while everything is being assessed over the next few weeks.
We were all really excited to bring this experience back together again, so this definitely hurts. A lot of our artwork is still inside the restaurant and we currently have no way of assessing the condition of it yet. But at the end of the day, stuff is stuff and people matter most.
More than anything, we’re just grateful everyone is safe. Our hearts are with the residents who were displaced from the fire and with The Alden team as they navigate this.
Thank you to everyone who supported @houseofdaydreamers the first time around and to everyone who was planning to come out for round two. We appreciate all the love and understanding right now.
Please send good vibes to The Alden team and everyone affected. Hoping they’re able to rebuild and come back even stronger when the time is right 🤍

Truly one of the pillars of the Filipino community here. They’ve always supported my art, fed me, shown love to creatives, and created a space that feels like home for so many of us… so getting to paint a mural for their new space means a lot to me. Thanks Tita Mia + Tito Carlo.
This is just the beginning…they got so many cool plans in store for this next chapter and I’m excited for everyone to experience it soon. Grateful to be a small part of it. 💖✨
