I created these two log cabin blocks from scraps for @ruthlesslyhandmade fundraiser to support @isaiah117house who are committed to providing a comfortable home where children receive clothing and comfort items during the wait between being removed from their home when their safety is a concern and being placed in foster care. In the fall these quilt blocks will be combined with hundreds of blocks made by others to create 12(!) quilts that will be raffled off.
These 20 blocks represent the 18 victims killed, 88 victims injured, and countless lives impacted over a two week period in September 2024 due to gun violence incidents with 4 or more victims. I completed these blocks as a part of the Gun Violence Quilt Project organized by @seamrippersociety
Iāve signed up to complete blocks to represent any shootings in the last week of May this year. Although we can wish for a week with no mass shootings, that is unlikely due to the lack of gun control in this country.
Spent some time trimming scraps and sewing them back together to acknowledge 500 of the 60,000+ lives lost in P@le5tine as a part of the protest quilt organized by @aninchforeach
Edit: apparently she picked corn and beans, we laughed and then picked eccentric star. I think.
I asked my wife to select a traditional block pattern, and some fabrics from my stash for our contribution to the community abortion quilt project. She picked a corn and beans variation which made us giggle. We all need a moment of levity while fighting for our freedom.

Two tattoos in a week, one elbow ditch (see above) and one calf piece, may be too much for the 43 year old body. Remind me to space these out next time. Also remind me that healing the ditch is the worst.
On the longarm today for the @sjsa_remembranceproject - these panels were pieced in remembrance of those lost due to police violence, racism, trans/lgbt hatred or other social justice issues. Iām thankful for the opportunity to longarm these pieces prior to them being displayed in community spaces coordinated by the @sjsacademy
