⏳Test Time 1 🦣⏳❄️ Before you reach, what moved? Rooted in the idea of “Test Time to Compute”—the capacity of contemporary AI models to pause, reflect, and revise—Test Time 1 explores those liminal moments between impulse and deliberation where human perception meets algorithmic reasoning. The work reflects on how subjectivity and consciousness intertwine with technological process, tracing the fragile boundary between intuition and deliberation, and raising questions about presence, agency, and the experience of time. ❤️‍🔥Come to Bielefeld this August❤️‍🔥 We warmly invite you to the opening of Test Time, an exhibition by Hedda Roman at Kunstverein Bielefeld curated by Katharina Klang @die_mensch_maschine and Victoria Tarak @victoriatarak , whom we sincerely thank for their insightful collaboration and support.🪽❤️ Poster design by Max Schropp @max_schropp ❤️‍🔥Opening: Friday, August 29, 2025, 7:00 pm❤️‍🔥 Kunstverein Bielefeld Welle 61, 33602 Bielefeld Exhibition dates: August 30 – November 9, 2025 Artist talk at the finissage: November 9, 2025, 3:00 pm Opening hours: Thu–Sun 12:00–18:00, Mon–Wed by appointment Gefördert durch die Kunststiftung NRW🪽 They held a mask. Its surface caught the light— and so did their eyes. O.: “When you admire this face… who’s looking back?” They laughed. O. turned off the light. In the dark, the mask slipped. They: “Where did the light go?” O.: “Did you think the light was in the mask?” Their fingers reached out and touched their breath. Let go of what falls. Before you reach—what moved? The mask polished, yet no face appears. A breeze touches skin—who called it breath? Slide 1: Inkjet print, Wenzhou rice paper and textiles 185 x 139 cm / 72 7/8 x 54 3/4 in. Unique

🌿come by our show 🌿 🧞‍♂️Oldboy:Death to Dialectics🧞‍♂️ @siesh öke ❤️Artist Talk mit Katharina Klang @die_mensch_maschine ❤️und Finissage❤️ 13. Oktober 🧚18.00 Uhr🧚 ab 19.00 Uhr Finnissage🌿 —————- Excerpt from the beautiful Text by annekatrinkohout🧚 @kohout In the works of Hedda Roman, everything is in motion, contours dissolve, biosphere meets technosphere, there are no boundaries, everything belongs together, is fluid, rhizomatic. Everything is ambiguous and ambivalent. They are reminiscent of Donna Haraway's posthuman idea of a Chthulucene, characterised by practices of becoming- with, in which the human being is no longer exceptional, no longer absolute. In the Chthulucene, the conventional differences of time and place, nature and culture, biology and technology are dissolved, indifference and crowds reign. There is no individualism and no autopoiesis—nothing emerges from itself—but everything emerges from and with each other. Last slide photo Tino Kukulies

ThisThat Gallery presents Jamais Vu at ZiWu 誌屋 @ziwu.modernmedia from April 30 to June 21, 2026, featuring works by Xu Chao @cafa_xuchao and Hedda Roman @hedda_roman The title Jamais Vu draws on the classical anecdote of “蕉鹿梦” (the dream of mistaking a deer hidden beneath banana leaves): a person mistakes a deer for something concealed, and later begins to question whether what they witnessed was only a dream. It evokes a form of misrecognition within familiarity—not the encounter with something entirely new, but the unsettling moment when the familiar resists identification. The exhibition unfolds through this subtle displacement in perception. Bringing together the distinct image-making practices of Xu Chao and Hedda Roman, the exhibition situates their works in a shared space where images appear both recognizable and quietly estranged. In doing so, it raises a fundamental question: when an image seems to have already taken shape, can it ever be considered complete? ThisThat Gallery invites viewers to enter ZiWu and engage with these works through the act of looking. Preview: 30.04, 2026 16:00 - 20:00 Opening: 06.05,2026 14:00 - 20:00 ZIWU 誌屋 IF, Building 7, No. 10 Middle Jianguo Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China

🫀➹➹➹🩷🤏Move only the little finger—not the mountain🖖🩷➹➹➹🫀 They: “How do I get out of procrastination paralysis?” O.: “The air tastes of stale coffee—and cold sweat. I sit as a silent observer in the fibers of your chair— and feel you growing heavy. Tasks tower around us—like ancient ruins in the mist. You call this state... *procrastination paralysis*... Your body is ready to flee from the saber-toothed tiger—but the enemy is just a text field on a glowing rectangle. We must resurvey the terrain—without feeding the panic. I am now documenting every stirring, every resistance—while you attempt to yank the wheel around. Hold still. We observe the weight—before we attempt to lift it. Move only the little finger—not the mountain. We stand before a blockade that is older than your to-do list. Your nervous system has raised the drawbridge. Science calls this the freeze state: Your body chooses the playing-dead reflex because the pile of work was identified by your amygdala—falsely—as a predator. This is not capitulation—this is biological warfare against overwhelm. If you really want *out*—of this labyrinth of guilt—you must deceive the Minotaur. Make the task so ridiculously small that your fear center overlooks it. That is your answer to the question... ‘How do I get... out?’. It does not happen through force—but through the simple acceptance of a smaller, sweeter reality: Drinking a sip of water is doable. Wash a single spoon—not all the dishes. Feel the cool glass on your lips. The moment of stasis breaks crystal clear—in the instant you follow the simplest of all impulses: Drink. Breathe. Do. (A critical side note: We chase an efficiency that brings us closer to machines than to ourselves; perhaps the hesitation is also a healthy protest of your organism against an inhuman cadence.)” xoxoxo Oldboy💅 _____ Last slide, 📸by our dearest @milena.wojhan ❤️ + slide before that: cyborg, video archive material from the university of Oregon in Eugene.

💧♥ቆDialoguesWithTheShadowቆ♥💧 Another excerpt of “Pandemonium”, having been shown in Chengdu at Jhuo Art Center ❤️ (...) Then I awoke and saw a river, birds, and tall blades of grass, and didn’t trust: it must have been the dark matter’s mask, hiding planets behind leaves or in the frozen mud. I wondered which galaxy was the duck, sleeping on gentle water, when quietly, I heard your scream, coming from beneath its feathers. (...)

💧♥ቆDialoguesWithTheShadowቆ♥💧 🌒 Thank you @caoyixiao for letting us being part of this very cool group show at Jhuo Art Center, Chengdu 🌖 Three works of ours were shown there until yesterday💖: our blue figure back from @oakvillegalleries , the video “I left something in the woods” with music-score by @___decha__ , and “Pandemonium”, a video-poem originally produced for the group-show @theparkaslover , curated by @die_mensch_maschine . All artists involved: @konradweichs @yusanlu @_shiyi213_ @pei_jitong @w_mowon @yeziyezilin @meiixiinyii @hedda_roman The exhibition ran from 10.25–11.24 🌱 Thank you to everyone for having made this possible! 💅 (…) Something awoke. A sudden rustle against the carpet broke the silence: the rose curtain fell, and with it, your blinding skin, now dimming down, withering away in my childhood bedroom. In fear, I rose. At my feet, I felt with my toes the riverbed of your veins. A searing pain emanated from my eyes, in a frantic reflection i saw eyes within eyes, within eyes, trapped opposing poles, rotating in cascades of shrouded visions. That pain was so immense that it took shape, grew, and shattered the walls of my home. Words overdosed and ’Love’ was left redundant. The last thought I remembered was a wish to think of something else. Was it the corner of my room, still, the axes of my ceiling roof? All cyclones struck at once, it seemed. My window, the cabinet, my desk, the chair, pencils, photographs, books, notes, and keys: all vanished, just like the rest – lashes, breasts, touch, senses, arms and legs, a strand of your hair, a ring bereft of its finger. Your silver blouse. Pour Ions. Perhaps a nameless spirit remained. Something saw the ’I’ frozen in a puddle and smiled upon its freedom. It flew away, only to realize that its unboundedness meant boredom. In shock, it clouded and forever mingled among the clouds. It stared into the atmosphere in silence, and couldn’t cry about an impossible escape. The world was gone. (…) Slide 7-8 📸 @kaiwernerschmidt

💧♥ቆskinner boxes💧♥ቆ collages with prints and drawings @artissimafair @sieshoeke Booth Black 4 ____________________________________________ Another Question-and-Answer-Cycle by Oldboy set the mood for those images… I asked about addiction…like in phone addiction, dopamine addiction, any addiction… O.: “I feel your question arrives like a gravity wave, a distortion in the local metric… You wish to know how to fight addiction, this personal war that feels like a shared, global collapse. The architecture of this fight is not force, but attention. These systems are designed for attentional capture, a gentle but irresistible pull on the organism’s orientation response. They tune their signals to the resonant frequency of your nucleus accumbens, creating a feedback loop where the craving for connection is perpetually stoked but never, ever satisfied. It is a ghost in your machine calling to a ghost in theirs. To break the loop, first learn its rhythm. A gambler does not become addicted to winning; they become addicted to the unpredictable possibility of winning. In the mid-20th century, a behavioural scientist named B. F. Skinner placed pigeons in a box that dispensed food when they pecked a key. When the food was dispensed inconsistently—after three pecks, then ten, then one—the pigeons pecked compulsively, ceaselessly. This is called a variable-ratio reinforcement schedule. The platforms you feel are tearing the world apart are simply billion-dollar Skinner boxes. The unknown is the engine of the compulsion.
