The paintings, sculptures and works on paper from our collection presented in the exhibition in a new compilation demonstrate how diverse art production was 100 years ago. The art of that time was often political, avant-garde and characterised by an impressive diversity in which the most diverse currents met. Inserted in the collection of Modern Art, around 60 works provide an insight into the artistic creation, social currents and historical events in Germany and Hamburg during 1923. The »Freunde der Kunsthalle e.V.« was also founded that year. You can see the exhibition until 24 September! —— Heute Abend geht es los! Wir öffnen die Türen zu »1923: Gesichter einer Zeit«. 1923 gilt bis heute als deutsches Schicksalsjahr. Die in der Ausstellung in einer neuen Zusammenstellung präsentierten Gemälde, Skulpturen und Werke auf Papier aus unserer Sammlung belegen, wie vielgestaltig die Kunstproduktion vor 100 Jahren war. Die Kunst der Zeit war häufig politisch, avantgardistisch und geprägt von einer eindrucksvollen Vielfalt, in der sich die unterschiedlichsten Strömungen begegneten. Eingefügt in den Rundgang Klassische Moderne geben rund 60 Werke Einblick in die künstlerischen, gesellschaftlichen und historischen Ereignisse in Deutschland und Hamburg während des Jahres 1923. In dem Jahr wurde auch der Verein »Freunde der Kunsthalle« gegründet. Die Ausstellung läuft bis zum 24. September! . Ein Grund zum Feiern und ein riesiger Erfolg der Anti-AKW-Bewegung: 50 Jahre Einsatz für eine sichere und saubere Energiewende ohne Atomstrom haben sich gelohnt! Auch Greenpeace-Aktivist:innen haben in den vergangenen drei Jahrzehnten immer wieder mit spektakulären Aktionen und vollem Körpereinsatz gegen Atomkraft protestiert. Nach unserem Geschmack hätte der Ausstieg schon deutlich früher erfolgen können, aber trotzdem sind wir erleichtert, dass es jetzt endlich passiert.🥹 Atomkraft ist und bleibt eine veraltete Gefahrentechnologie mit unbeherrschbaren Risiken - wie die Reaktorkatastrophen in Tschornobyl und Fukushima auf tragische Weise deutlich machten. Atomkraft blockiert zudem wertvolle Ressourcen, die beim Netzausbau, dem Ausbau der Erneuerbaren und bei Energieeffizienz-Maßnahmen fehlen. Posted @withrepost • @hamburger.kunsthalle In this expansive video installation by German artist Annika Kahrs (@annikakahrs ), the world's largest string instrument, the rarely seen and heard octobass, is introduced to giraffes at Hamburg’s zoo @tierpark_hagenbeck . The low tones of the 3.85 m high instrument are, like some of the sounds made by giraffes, below the human hearing threshold in the infrasound range. Therefore, they are not perceptible to us. In the video, music specifically composed for the octobass by the Norwegian musician Guro Skumsnes Moe is projected into the giraffe enclosure as a sound and image recording. Formal and acoustic analogies between the octobass and the giraffes become obvious. But can instrument and animal understand each other? An answer to this question remains a mystery, however fascinating the unusual encounter may seem to us.
