It’s about time we did an admin reveal 👀 If you’re new here, you might not know who actually runs Headstrong PR. We’ve had a solid first year working with some of our favourite underground bands – Blank Atlas, Keeper, Our Nameless Boy, and COSM, to name just a few! A big hello from Sophie and James! 👋 We’ve both been active in the music industry for what feels like forever. Last year, we had a chat about how we could help underground bands get the recognition they deserve. Our never-ending passion for alternative music and our inability to stay quiet about our favourite small bands is what unleashed Headstrong. We’ve got another busy year ahead, so a huge thank you to all the journalists who’ve covered our bands so far, and an even bigger thank you to the artists who trust us with their music. Sophie Smith is the powerhouse front-woman of Bristol’s alt-rock band Hamartia, but she doesn’t just stop there. She’s also the co-founder of Headstrong PR, where she pours just as much passion into lifting up other artists as she does into her own music, and if that wasn’t enough, she also hosts Changing Tune on Chaos Radio - a show dedicated to spotlighting women, trans, and non-binary musicians who deserve way more recognition than they often get. Hamartia release new single “Synthetica” about performative feminism. Sophie says “Synthetica came from pure frustration. I’m tired of how the responsibility always falls on women to call out misogyny and sexism, and to somehow be the ones expected to fix systemic issues. It’s about the men who wear feminism like a costume, rehearsing all the right lines while quietly dismantling the outspoken women around them who make them uncomfortable. The danger is in the performance, in never quite knowing if they understand the harm, or if they enjoy it.” #newmusic #altrock

This week Failstate joined our roster, alongside releasing 'No Reflections'🎵 Here's what the song means according to @failstate_band : “the song is about using our vices to avoid confronting uncomfortable feelings. There’s a helpless compulsion in choosing to suppress complex emotions in favor of simpler ones. It's a different kind of sadness—one where we find some sick satisfaction in wallowing.
