We’re proud to be part of Backyard Biennial: East, a free, 8-week festival in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery and 40+ local partners across East London (15 July - 6 September 2026). Join us for an exciting programme of exhibitions, performances, workshops and more, celebrating the histories, communities and creative practices that shape the East End. On 10 July 2026, SLQS Gallery opens the group exhibition No Place Like Home III curated by Hoa Dung Clerget and KV Duong and featuring works by Hoa Dung Clerget, KV Duong, Moi Tran, Alvin Lương, Hiền Hoàng and Nguyễn Thuỷ Tiên. The third part in this series of exhibitions centres around an interior garden as a place of exchange. No Place Like Home is a collective exploration of home, focusing on the Vietnamese diasporic house as an intimate, cultural, and political space. In addition to a traditional exhibition, the project centres on workshops, gatherings, and discussions, inviting the public and local communities to reflect and share experiences. The exhibition is supported by SLQS Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, the Vietnam Art Collection (VAC) and the Circles of Art. More information is coming soon! Save the date for the opening: 10 July 2026! Read more via the link in our bio Image: detail of Family Portrait (2026) by KV Duong #BackyardBiennial #EastEnd #NoPlaceLikeHome #VietnameseCommunity

Amazing Nails by Hoa Dung Clerget is a 7-minute musical documentary set in a Vietnamese nail salon in East London. It follows Sophia, a nail technician who, at the end of her day, dreams of becoming one of the Trưng sisters. While singing Hờn Anh Giận Em, a love song marked by the Vietnam war, she reverses traditional roles: the woman is no longer the one who waits, but the one who fights, asserts her freedom, and claims her power. The film transforms stereotypes of Asian femininity into a creative force, offering a new, proud, and autonomous vision. SLQS invites you to its first Supper Club. Join artist Hoa Dung Clerget and Sarah Le Quang Sang, Founder of SLQS Gallery, for an intimate evening limited to 10 guests, where food, art and conversation come together. To celebrate Tết Vietnamese New Year, our inaugural Supper Club takes place on Wednesday 25 February 2026. The evening begins at 7pm with a welcome drink and a guided walkthrough of the exhibition, followed by a Vietnamese banquet, accompanied by wine, beer and soft drinks. The evening is set against Hoa Dung Clerget: The Trung Sisters, a solo exhibition that offers a contemporary reimagining of women identity within the Vietnamese diaspora. Through this new body of work, Clerget proposes an alternative subjectivity, a counter-narrative in which feminine power circulates through gesture, voice and image. If you’d like to welcome the Year of the Horse together, reserve your seat at the table. Tickets are £85 and available via the link in bio. #Supperclub #LunarNewYear #SLQSgallery

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the opening of The Trung Sisters by Hoa Dung Clerget. Performance by Hoa Dung Clerget with singer Lyly Doan and guitarist Doc Ngo activating Clerget’s installation ‘The Banquet Hall’. Filmed and edited by Bilal Singh. The exhibition is now on view until 21 February at SLQS Gallery. Hoa Dung Clerget | The Trung Sisters 23 January - 27 February 2026 20 Club Row, London E2 7EY “As part of my solo exhibition, Lyly Doan will perform at the opening, activating the installation The Banquet Hall. A well-known figure within the Vietnamese community, Lyly Doan presents an intentionally simple, almost ordinary performance that inscribes a presence in the gallery space. Ephemeral by nature, the performance evokes notions of presence and absence. It draws from memories of my childhood weekends spent at community festivities and ballroom dancing halls. In the manner of Félix González-Torres, the sung performance affirms a body that appears and disappears, engaging the viewer as a witness to a moment that is at once nostalgic and fleeting. “ - Hoa Dung Clerget #SLQSGallery #HoaDungClerget #TheTrungSisters

SLQS Gallery is delighted to announce the representation of artist Hoa Dung Clerget. After having shown Clerget’s works in our group exhibitions A Landscape of Chance (2024), Only Your Name (2025) and MEGA Art Fair in Milan (2025), we are pleased to present her new solo exhibition The Trung Sisters opening on 22 January in our gallery in Shoreditch. Hoa Dung Clerget (b. France) lives and works in London. Her sculptural and installation-based practice explores the labour, aesthetics and social realities of immigrant women, often through the lens of nail art subculture. Drawing from Homi Bhabha’s concept of the ‘liminal’, Clerget investigates how diasporic identities are shaped in spaces of cultural negotiation and reinvention. Using everyday materials such as gel nail polish, she creates tactile works that blur the boundaries between art, beauty and subculture. Clerget holds an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art (2021) and a BA Hons in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins (2019). She is the recipient of Jerwood Art New Work Fund (2022) and Finalist of Circa x Dazed Class of 2021. Recent exhibitions include the solo exhibition Durian Revolution (Studio Chapple, 2023) and the group exhibitions: Myths, Dreams and New Realities (Saatchi/Bagri Foundation, 2025), Only Your Name (SLQS Gallery, 2025), Fringe (Labs Gallery, Bologna, 2025), Porous Abstraction (Alma Pearl, 2025), tươi sống (Harlesden High Street, 2024), Beauty Tech Art Spa (Cornershop, 2023) and Paradise (Harlesden High Street, Lecce, 2022).
