We’re so honored to be on this stage and part of DIASPORA Fest’s line up and share our stories with you through songs. As queers and (children of) immigrants, it is exactly our life stories that shaped our sound. And we’re so privileged to share that with you. 🎶Meet our Second Artists of TASTE Bristol🎵 @hazeddate Yiran Liu, also known as Hazed Date, is an indie‑folk / indie‑rock singer‑songwriter whose music blends delicate melodies with diary‑like introspection. Her songs explore sapphic yearning, the quiet romance of small‑town life, and the search for sanctuary amid global political uncertainty. Born and raised in China, Yiran wrote her first song at fourteen after picking up the guitar. As a queer, first‑generation immigrant, she draws deeply from the complexities of diaspora, identity, and belonging. Through cursive lyricism and tender arrangements, Hazed Date crafts music that feels intimate yet expansive with stories that unfold like quiet revolutions of the heart. IT’S OFFICIALLY BEEN A WEEK SINCE THE MAGIC HAPPENED. We’ve been reminiscing on what happened this time last week and we’re so excited to come back with you for more. And hey we think it’s time that we finally formally introduce ourselves again - :) Hazed Date is a Bristol-based five-piece band. Formed in 2025 by singer-songwriter Yiran Liu, the group blends shoegaze and grunge textures with the delicate lyricism of Yiran’s indie-rock roots. Hazed Date came together as a band in June 2025 after Yiran found Aster (bass), Maria (guitar) Kat (keys), and Sal (drums) through Bristol’s vibrant Queer POC community. Yiran’s music explores themes of sapphic yearning, the romantic allure of a small-town life, and the search for sanctuary amidst the global political storm. As a first-generation immigrant and queer woman, she finds inspiration in the complexities of identity and belonging, crafting songs that resonate like quiet revolutions of the heart. Together, Hazed Date is known for its versatile sound, stemming from the band’s diverse musical tastes and creative input into what has become a rich landscape of sound. We are Hazed Date, your very own DIY indie rock band from Bristol. And we make sad lesbian music for hot people. We played our very first gig last night at @oldenglandpub and @community.jam.collective . It was an honor sharing a stage with the brilliant @anyapailthorpemusic . Thank you to everyone who came and supported us, we couldn’t have fit more gay people of Bristol in the room even if we tried! We’re so happy that our merch got a lot of love last night - we’ve completely sold out of T-shirts (designed by @hshuhanhe ) but are restocking and taking pre-orders, so keep an eye out for more info. We’re a 5 piece band, made 100% of queer POCs. Most of us met each other at the legendary @bristolqpoc . We were born in a community so full of love and support. So we are and always will be giving back to the hands that feed us. Our badges (designed by @alb.illustrations ) sales raised £60 towards @bristolqueersforpalestine . Details of donation to follow.
