We’re heading upstate. On May 17, we’re linking up with our community for a day of hanging and hiking at Upward Brewing (@upward.brewing ) in Livingston Manor. We’ll kick things off with a hike led by our good friend @amid.terrain , followed by a laid back afternoon outside that rolls straight into an après at the brewery. We’ll have free beer and food for the first 30 guests, plus a limited Mountain Hardwear tee for the first 30 as well. Hi, I’m Gene, the founder of Hatchet Supply. I’ve never really done something like this before, writing a personal note to you, our friends and community, but this moment feels too meaningful to not share. Over 20 years in retail, at the intersection of outdoor and lifestyle, I’ve met incredible people building things rooted in story, passion, and purpose. But too often, small independent brands don’t get the shelf space or spotlight they deserve. I started Hatchet Supply to bring together my favorite brands and products and celebrate the stories behind them. But as time went on, we found ourselves limited by space, budgets, and geography. At the same time, more exciting new voices kept emerging—yet things felt fragmented, lacking community. Something was missing. That’s why I started something new: WeekEnds—a marketplace for independent and emerging outdoor brands. But it’s more than a marketplace. WeekEnds is a home for discovery—the world’s first digital marketplace strictly for independent outdoor brands. It’s a space where brands, creators, and communities can share, grow, and build something meaningful, and where customers can discover the most interesting new brands and products. The name “WeekEnds” is personal. Living and working in the city, weekends were always my reset—a chance to head upstate, hike, fish, and reconnect with the natural world. I hope WeekEnds brings some of that spirit to you, not just through products, but through the people and stories behind them. Hatchet Supply isn’t going anywhere. Our mission remains the same: to serve our community and bring you the very best in outdoor and lifestyle gear. WeekEnds only strengthens that mission, giving us the chance to connect with more emerging brands and share more of what we love. Thank you for reading. It means a lot. This past weekend we pulled up with our friends @hatchetsupply for a pop-up with @rux.life . Served a few calm camp bites while getting to spend real time with the founders + team behind the gear we’ve been putting to work. We used the full RUX system throughout our California / desert run, so hearing the story behind the design, decisions, and evolution hit different. Good product solves problems. We’re setting up camp in the middle of the shop. @rux.life takes over with the new Duffel Box, with Michael Nicholas (@brooklynsky ) from Aunts et Uncles pulling up in his Rivian R1T fully packed out with RUX gear. Outside meets inside as we build a live setup around our in-store fire zone, while the full system continues inside the shop so you can see how it actually lives, stacks, and moves. We took the @hanwagofficial Makra Pro GTX up to Minnewaska with Blair of Amateurs Mag and friends to see how it actually holds up over a full day. What we like about the Makra is that it doesn’t feel overly technical, even though it is. It’s lightweight, really stable on uneven terrain, and the GORE-TEX lining actually does its job. The upper is Perwanger leather so it feels durable but not stiff, and you don’t feel like you’re breaking in some heavy boot all day. They spent the day up at Minnewaska State Park, taking in the views, moving through the trails, and just being outside for a while. After, they headed to Mountain Brauhaus for an early dinner. We’re excited to have @outopia.run on WeekEnds. Founded by a collective of trail runners and industry veterans, it’s a brand that didn’t come out of a strategy deck but out of real movement, built mid-stride, shaped by time in the mountains and the need for things to simply work. Headquartered in Shanghai but connected to a global trail community, Outopia is grounded in a simple idea: design gear that disappears so you can focus on the experience of moving through nature. What stands out to us is how intentional everything feels. Outopia works primarily with ZQ-certified merino wool, but this isn’t about heritage or nostalgia. They’re rethinking it, blending natural and technical fibers, refining construction, and dialing in weight and performance so pieces regulate temperature, resist odor, and adapt to the body over time. It’s not about adding more, it’s about doing less, better. Outopia feels like a quiet shift in how outdoor gear is approached. Less about conquering terrain, more about belonging to it. It’s a brand built on movement, but also on restraint, where performance isn’t loud, it’s felt.

Everyone has their version of a weekend escape. For many New Yorkers, it’s upstate, the Catskills. For our first collaboration with @mizuno_sportstyle , we took the Cruiser SE out of the city and into that mindset. Shot with Rachael Yaeger of The Roscoe Motel and HUMAN NYC, the story follows her daily flow. Fly fishing, running the motel (and now @littlestoreinroscoe ), and living in upstate New York on her own terms. The color story pulls from that world. Storm green and silver, inspired by a classic SUV parked somewhere between forest and stream. Clean, easy, but built with intention. Speckled midsoles echo water and mud in motion. Hits of yellow nod to headlights cutting through dusk. Reflective details light up when the day fades. What’s your escape?
