I saw someone JUST threw out their Christmas tree. So I’m throwing up some 2024 highlights. Better late than never. 2024 was a weird one but I Learned how to make a flower arrangement. Climbed a cherry blossom. Made going to @wineformebk a monthly must. It’s where I met my honey. Celebrated public art installations of my pops. Had the best pride weekend, thanks to @thejosieclub . Schoolgirl begged them to attend the party and gave us all belly laughs reeenacting her email. Supported my homies making dreams happen with their own farm @ceibaarbor . Found out I was a cover girl no Tyra- by way of the Amy Sherald on @ursulamagazine Tried to hold honey down by swapping my sneakers for her shoes, felt like Monica. Went to more wineformes and brought the homies. Every day peopled one good time for the summer. Met baby Sora and met up with more homies whilst in Georgia. Swapped hotel rooms 50-11 times till they did right by me. And finally I Falun dafa’d.
I’m really an art girly. I’m really from Harlem. I grew up taking the 2/3 train on 125th and seeing Faith Ringold’s mosaic on the walls of the station. Harlem heroes flying. I’ve founded and have been hosting HangNight at my families gallery for 10+ years now. An opportunity for anybody - to show case their work for one night only. And challenged and encouraged to not only show their work but speak about it. An ode to The Living artist.
So it ain’t no small thing that I had the privilege for sitting for thee @asherald . And being immortalized in two portraits. Two Portraits that are premiering at her largest collection to date at SF MoMa and then at The Whitney in New York.
Very cool.
The day was so surreal, Amy was incredibly kind and cool. I ran into another art hero @Bisabutler while setting up for the shoot. And Then I had on my favorite @melodyehsani x @ayabrown.tiff brown jacket and ran into Melody whilst there too. I was happy to be thought of. Happy for the opportunity. Not sure how things would turn out. Did I pose well enough, to make the cut? But here we are!! So, won’t you celebrate with me? Just a Harlem artsy chick- living out a fantasy I didn’t know I had
P.S it’s me an Michelle Obama being twins. Capricorns with them arms both painted in grisaille by a god 🐐💪🏾

Last week today, was the closing night of Furlough’s Paradise by A.k Payne at the @alliancetheatre . I’m so grateful, humbled and full off this production. I took a whole week and still don’t have a caption that can encapsulate what this show meant. From stage management to company management. From my cast mate , wonderful understudies and fearless director. From lighting , set and sound design. Everybody involved in this show made this production one I am forever proud of. I don’t say I’m proud enough. But ya’ll we really did our big one with this. Thank you for everyone involved and thank you to my support team for showing up for me. For flying out, driving and face timing me. I don’t know what’s next but I know I’m grateful and I’m loved. Thank you!
And major thank you for @anythingforsalinas_ for these photographs. I’m so glad you captured us on and off the stage 🫶🏾
And thank you ATL for all y’all’s 🍑 😉
We been Gon for a minute! But we back with the HangNight!!! This Friday April 28.
HangNight started over 8 years ago at my home and family’s gallery @heathgallery . It came about because I had friends who were visual artists and who were trying to get their work into galleries. I had access to one. I had access to create a space for artists of all mediums to be seen and heard. My parents allowed me to open their doors and for many years a community came through those doors and brought art work. And brought poems and songs and dances and brought support. It’s hard to describe what the HangNight community created. It’s a vibe. Hard to explain, you just got to pull up. Peep the through the hashtags #hangnight you’ll see what we were on. If you been, tell them people in the comments what the vibes are. I’ll be posting throwback today too. I chose this image for the flyer because it’s of the gallery before we moved in. But my father @thomas_e_heath didn’t wait for the doors to be open or the walls to be painted to hang his work. He wanted to be seen via his community. We insideeeee, come through
