A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our WE ARE HERE and 30th Anniversary screening of The Watermelon Woman at @w_shed in Bristol curated by @hardiewrites .
It was great to see so many people experience the film for the first time on the big screen, espcially those in the audience aged 16-19.
It started off with some powerful poetry from Muneera Pilgrim @muneera_pilgrim followed by an extended introduction by Mena Fombo @menafombo
Thank you to both Muneera and Mena for sharing their voices with us and for setting us up right to watch The Watermelon Woman and take into account its significance in Black queer film history!
This was our last WE ARE HERE event in Bristol (for now), if you’ve been to any of our regional events over the last few months please do fill out our audience survey and help us shape the next phase of the programme - link in the bio.
