I’m delighted to share that the Guardian have published In Love and Care on their webpage, and is available to view online now! A huge thank you to @sarahgilbertguardian for following this project from its initial editing stages, through to the book and zine production, all the way to now! Your endless support and interest for this ever growing project means so much!
And a big thank you to my @lcclondon tutors @roymehta , @_davidbirkin , @lexsingh and Vicki for the last three years of teaching, and especially the last year of support for this project.
In Love and Care has some more exciting opportunities and ideas in the works right now, and will be a project that will continue to slowly but surely grow over the coming months into years. ❤️🌟
Blue is The Colour of Longing
As Rebecca Solnit says: ‘the purer the water the deeper the blue.’ The colour of blue, in the faraway lands and distance, is a much more vivid and deeper blue than what is infront of us. So of course it makes sense that we long for that blue on the horizon.
But the reality is that the blue we long for, the blue of harmony, of freedom or a place of safety, is rather a dull gray once you are up close. The grayness is the lack of help from the government, the gray state of limbo and gray areas where one is refused definitive status.
‘Blue is the Colour of Longing’ is a series of polaroid emulsion lifts that document ports where people seek refuge in the UK- a focus on Hastings and Dover. Dover has been the epicentre for debate on immigration laws and the migration crisis.
Questioning the hostile environment policy for refugees and people seeking asylum, and calling for it to end.
You can see this work, alongside many others, at The Art House in Bethnal Green, between the 13th-31st June.
Hope to see you there.

For the past two years Meanwhile Space, in partnership with @wemakegood , has activated two former regeneration hubs as part of the wider estate regeneration programmes in Custom House and Canning Town. These spaces act as test beds for local people to trial, develop and grow their ideas within a supportive environment.
Activities currently range from British Sign Language courses and coffee mornings to gardening sessions, fitness classes and much more.
We are really looking forward to seeing how these projects continue to evolve over the next year and to supporting even more local ideas, connections and opportunities within the community.

Loughborough Farm Highlight 🌱
A look back at some archive footage from last year at Loughborough Farm, prior to the new plantroom build.
Based at LJ Works, Loughborough Farm is a thriving garden which hosts regular volunteering sessions for the community.
Through Spring and Summer the farm comes alive, with fruit, veg and herbs all lovingly grown and harvested by volunteers. The produce is shared during a welcoming lunch, and any surplus heads to the sister project, The Platform Cafe 🌟

With more highlights from the LJ Winter Festival, we’re spotlighting @loughboroughfarm 🌿
Scroll through for images from their winter market, featuring plants, fermented goodies like kimchi and kombucha and plenty of other seasonal refreshments.
The afternoon also included @bookgardenpopup with a selection of second-hand books, alongside a hands-on wreath-making workshop and bulb planting sessions.
