Hackney Quest has an amazing 35 runners taking part in the Hackney Half marathon this Sunday 17 May! Please come out and cheer them on - they'll be easy to spot in their blue and white tops and the support really makes the difference! Well Street Common is a great place to watch and there's plenty of other cheer points along the route. Or come and find us on the marshes where we'll be sharing the Coffee Runners tent near the start/finish line.
We're so proud of all our runners, who have already raised nearly £12,000 for Hackney Quest 👏 We're wishing them a restful week with plenty of carb loading - we can't wait to cheer them on on Sunday.

HUGE congratulations to Zoe Garbett — former Hackney Quest volunteer — now officially our new Mayor of Hackney! 💚 From giving her time with our young people to leading the whole borough. What a journey. We’re so behind you, Zoe, and know you’ll bring the same energy, care and commitment to Hackney that you showed with us.
And to Dylan Law — our new Deputy Mayor!!! Dylan has been part of the Hackney Quest family since he was 8 years old. A 20-year-old young Black man from Hackney, one of our young leaders, exceptionally intelligent, kind, and full of passion to make change.
To see him step up as a representative of the community he serves is everything we do this for. Dylan, we are SO proud of you. You prove what young people from Hackney can achieve when they’re supported and believed in.
What a team. What a moment for youth voice in Hackney.
Well done to the entire Green Party and to everyone who stood yesterday — all candidates, all parties. Democracy takes courage. We also want to thank the outgoing councillors we’ve worked with over the years. Your tireless work for Hackney hasn’t gone unnoticed — we appreciate each and every one of you.

We had a fantastic three day youth leadership residential this Easter holidays @london_youth wonderful residential centre Woodrow. The young people applied for @younghackney Youth opportunity fund to do this. We had 12 youth leaders ages between 14 to 22 who put a lot of effort across the three days to develop their skills, increase their knowledge and step out of their comfort zones. We are so excited to have this group of young people go on to be wonderful youth leaders across our programmes at Hackney Quest ☺️
Our Easter holiday programme was action packed with a wide range of activities for our young people to engage with. From fun games and easter egg hunts with @theoutrunners to Easter blag it challenge with @skywaycharity , tennis with @advantage__tennis , roller skating with @rollernation.uk , Jaja’s African hairbraiding theatre show @lyrichammersmith , kayaking @laburnumboatclub , bowling, cinema and more. We also had a wonderful two day young leaders programme with the amazing @londonakas . Thank you to all our wonderful partnerships and for helping us continue to support the young people to experience new opportunities , achieve and thrive. To sum it up there was a lot of chocolate , action and fun this Easter holidays ☺️

As part of their final presentation, our YLI participants took the lead in creating their own recap — reflecting on their growth, experiences, and the unforgettable moments they’ve shared along the way. Seeing their confidence, creativity, and voices shine was truly inspiring 💚
It’s safe to say the experience has left a lasting impact on everyone involved, and we’re already looking ahead to more meaningful activities with our young people!

Last night we had a wonderful evening at @younghackney youth awards. Three of our amazing young people won awards. Two won senior volunteer award for their amazing volunteering in Jamaica helping with Hurricane Melisa relief and another came runner up for the junior inspirational young person award. We are so proud of all of them. It was such a wonderful evening to see so many amazing young people celebrated and recognise their incredible achievements ☺️👏🏼👏🏼

Last night we held our Hackney Quest AGM – and what a brilliant evening it was!
We had a fantastic turnout from trustees, staff, volunteers and young people of Hackney Quest. It was so special to see so many people who care about our community coming together in one room 💛
One of the highlights of the evening was our Trustee Board spending real time with our young people – hearing directly from them about what Hackney Quest means in their lives, the support they’ve received, and the opportunities they’ve been part of.
In return, our young people got to learn what it actually means to be a trustee – the responsibility, the governance, and the leadership behind the scenes that keeps Hackney Quest strong and sustainable. It was powerful to see those conversations happening across generations.
For an organisation that has been supporting our community for 36 years, evenings like this remind us why we do what we do – building relationships, creating positive life experiences and connecting young people with great role models.
