It’s this fine man’s birthday, so I had to crack out this gem of a photo we made, from back in 2006. Dirty Pretty Things had just finished a classic “secret” show. A classic sweaty basement gig at The Buffalo Bar in London. @gdogg27 relieves himself from some of his shirts sweat drenching, a rarity as his shirt is not ally off at gigs, certainly back then at least. Who misses those days when a gig meant you’d normally be smelling of cigarettes and soaked with a mixture of beer or Jack and coke that had gone flying along with your sweat plus others dripping off the ceilings? Anyway, here’s wishing Gary a most splendid birthday today, go do the same and show the loveliest of men love on his special day. Love you G! XX.

Reliably informed by @puppetsspace that I made this photograph of @mileskane & Alex Turner aka @thelastshadowpuppets , 18 years ago today. Hope some of you enjoy this post. I definitely have fond memories of this show at the old Soundfix Records and then later on as we went for post show drinks at The Royal Oak. Funny how none of these places exist in the current guise of Williamsburg. Things done changed on these sides. But we can still hope or look forward to a new TLSP record eh… Accompanying music is the guys cover of Wondrous Place by English musician Billy Fury who had some success crossing over to an American audience with this hit. Think the Shadow Puppets covered it perfectly. What’s your favorite track from the 2 records they’ve released?

Upcoming shows to check them out this very weekend! @brixtonwindmill & @deptfordbirdsnest . If you want chaotic rock ‘n’ roll in your life get down to one of the gigs. Photos’ from The Duke of Clarence, June 4th, 2005. The lineup on this occasion saw The Blonds, Lloyd Dobbs of @thepaddingtonshu5 solo set, The Ludes and then Babyshambles all take to the stage.

@therealrig1 Hanging out at the original St Dymphna on Saint Marks Place. Can’t believe this was 13 years ago…for a while it felt like D’s was gonna be the H.Q. for always. I miss walking through the doors and seeing all the gangs faces, and for sure I miss the delight of the comfort that came along with being a member of the community there. Making the video for Conor’s(Oberst) Till St Dymphna Kicks Us Out is an overriding happy memory amongst many, so I’ve attached the song for you. Shit, I guess I’m gonna go rewatch the video as well since I got all maudlin writing this post now. Thanks for creating the best space and the best times @greg_marinaccio @racas111 @eric1973baker @psanguedo 🫡❤️✌️

Dirty Pretty Things toured the UK extensively in 2006 to support their debut album Waterloo to Anywhere. Happy 20th anniversary WTA. Here they are(no Didz in the frame alas) @rockcitynottingham about to exit the stage after a most raucous and frenetic performance. Carl went for a dip in the crowd and one point and almost ended up being dragged under like a whirlpool. The twins had to rescue him! This was pretty much how the whole tour went. A lot of happy fans had their fill of DPT and a night of dancing and crowd surfing. Anyway, this was on March 13th, 2006. Nottingham had a reputation for fighting, I guess the whole UK does, and appropriately I do recall this night there was a guy at the venue who’d got punched and was bleeding while bouncing around enjoying the gig. Tour highlight for me was their Buffalo Bar show and I think we went to Ireland as well. 20 years later now and it’s great to see everyone from the band doing well and keeping busy. Didz is working in management with The Charlatans, Johnny Marr and others, Carl & Gary are back doing @thelibertines & Anthony is producing and winning Grammys and all that fine stuff.

@arcticmonkeys @glastofest 2005. BACK IN THE DAY: This was one of my favorite sets I’ve seen the band play. Between the new found euphoria that was growing for them and the way they nonchalantly went about playing their music yet with vigor. It felt like whatever will be will be to them, but we aren’t bothered. It felt like here’s a band that are gonna do it on their own terms. Mostly. You gotta play the game to a certain extent. Each song of the set the crowd grew until it was beyond capacity and the tent was overflowing. Felt exciting to be witnessing the start of Monkey Mania & I was lucky enough to see them play all sorts of different stages as their career took off. I miss the popped collar days, ain’t gonna lie. Things evolve and change though. Who as a fan has been there since day numéro uno? If so can you share your favorite Arctic Monkeys moments or albums with us?
