We’re still trying to process it. Last Sunday, 400+ of us came to Leister Square to witness a movie that shows us in our truest light. Authors of the Estate, a creative journey that began 10 years ago in NW London, made its way onto one of the most prestigious cinema screens in the world. And we did it all without waiting for permission. From making the book, to premiering our movie, it was all us. Friends, family, comrades, next door neighbours. The community we have gained / regained through this movement has truly been a best gift of all. Raphs… Chalkhill… we really did that. Late to this but felt right to start a new year by rounding off FESTIVAL OF SLAPS, which is now on BBC iPlayer so your Mum can watch. Private screening in Sept 2023 with a choir; picked up the audience award at LFF; reached some billboards for our online release; had a great weekend in York & bagged Best Comedy in @asffestival ; proudly cheesed it up @bifa_film & stood up on stage as winners with the gang; had a surreal time at @bafta with even more of the gang; fortunate enough to still be asked to talk about it at the end of 2024.
