• Envelopes titled “Moving Forward” & “Giddy Up”. I think ya’ll are smart enough to know which is which! Thank you to the collector that purchased these. They will be on display at Pearl River Mart until March 29th 2026, and Thank you, Bert for organizing this show every year! • The inspiration for these were watching Hobby Horse Competitions on Youtube which made me realize I'm not hobby-ing to the best of my ability. • Creating these red envelopes has always been a nice way to start the year—I consider it a little tradition for myself. This year is extra special because I am a horse!! According to Chinese superstition, that means it's gonna be a hard year for me, but I REBUKE THIS! It WILL BE A GOOD YEAR FOR ME, I DEMAND IT! . . . . . #jessezhang #jessezhangart #inkdrawing #inkcollage #inkpainting #redenvelopeshow #grumpybert #nycartshow #chinesenewyear2026 #firehorse

“The 11th Annual Red Envelope Show” at Pearl River Mart’s gallery in SoHo, on view through March 29, 2026. We have been following this festive exhibition for a number of years now and were excited to see what the year of the horse would bring. This show is curated by Albert Chau, who used to run Grumpy Bert, a whimsical art gallery and store in Boerum Hill. Sadly, the store closed in 2018, but Chau continues to bring the joyous celebration of the lunar new year with the red envelope (hong bao in Mandarin and lai see in Cantonese) show to different venues in New York. Artists from across the country are given the same red envelope as their canvas. Working in a variety of mediums, they interpret and transform the Lunar New Year good luck and prosperity tradition of the red envelope. #redenvelope #exhibition #yearofthehorse #redenvelopeshow

@nbcolympics Gold Medalist skater @alysaxliu embodies The Year of the Fire Horse. 2026 is “a Year of courageous action, authentic leadership & purposeful momentum. Some years invite reflection, rest, and quiet integration. Others arrive with a very different message - move now, trust your inner fire, and act with conviction. This is a year infused with vitality, visibility, and catalytic energy. It supports bold movement, decisive leadership, and progress driven by inner truth rather than external pressure. The Fire Horse does not ask for hesitation or perfection — it responds to authenticity, courage, and clean intention. In Chinese astrology, each year represents a precise moment within a living cycle of time — one designed to help us move with energy instead of against it. The Fire Horse year combines intense momentum with expressive Fire, making it especially powerful for those ready to step into greater leadership, visibility, or personal reinvention.” #alysaliu #olympics #chinesenewyear #lunarnewyear #gold

They say the Year of the Snake 🐍 was for shedding — releasing what no longer belongs. Now we welcome the Year of the Horse, a year for building, moving forward, and stepping fully into what’s meant for us. 🐎🏮 I spent the day in Manhattan following the sound of drums, watching the lions rise above the streets, and feeling the energy of a new chapter beginning courtesy of @liondanceny1973 Visiting @pearlrivermart and the Red Envelope art exhibition, I learned the tradition and meaning behind red envelopes — symbols of luck, prosperity, and intention. I also brought home teas, the peach and passion fruit loose leaf is my new favorite. New year. New momentum. Grateful to witness, capture, and be present for it all — and excited to see what this year holds.

Gong Hei Fat Choy! 🎉🏮🎊 Its the Year of the Horse! The 11th Annual Red Envelope Show is open and running until March 29. This year the show is located at Pearl River Mart Gallery in the SoHo neighbourhood of New York City. The fantastic @grumpybert has curated this massive show with 100+ artists to help celebrate the Lunar New Year and to pay tribute to the tradition of giving red envelopes of money to children. The red colour symbolizes good luck and prosperity. My anthropomorphic Purse Dumpling, Almond Cookie and Congee pieces are acrylic gouache on paper. My "surprise gift" for 2026 is a mini print celebrating the year of the horse. #redenvelope #lunarnewyear2026 #firehorse #pearlrivermart #nyc #anthropomorphicfood

Happy Lunar Year! Did you know that Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn resident Kam Mak @kammakart is the artist behind the brand new @brucelee stamp for the @uspostalservice ? “The U.S. Postal Service will honor Bruce Lee, the renowned Chinese American martial artist and actor, with a new Forever stamp. Lee captivated film audiences with his skill, charisma and screen presence and inspired a generation of young fans to explore action movies, mixed martial arts and Asian culture. The stamp artwork features a black-and-white painting of Lee executing his famous flying kick set against a yellow calligraphic brushstroke on a white background. The brushstroke is a reference to Lee’s iconic yellow tracksuit in the film ‘The Game of Death,’ which was completed and released years after his death. On the right side of the stamp, ‘BRUCE LEE’ and ‘USA FOREVER’ are printed vertically and angled to appear as if Lee’s kick were breaking them in half. The stamp was designed using artist Kam Mak’s egg tempera painting on traditional gesso.” (Source: usps.com) See Kam’s website for his art and other stamps he designed, including a series of Lunar New Year Stamps: kammak.net 📸 Photo of Kam: @fitnyc News Room #lunarnewyear #brucelee #yearofthehprse #chinesenewyear #stamp
