The trail partly follows the Via Francigena, one of the world’s oldest pilgrim routes, and ends at the same place in Santa Maria di Leuca, the Basilica Santuario di Santa Maria de Finibus Terrae, which means “the end of the earth” ⛪ The trail is mostly flat and easy to access, with more than half of the route on paved sections 🤩
It’s a beautiful trail with sea views, Italian culture and quiet beaches along the way 🌊The best time to hike it is before or after the summer holidays, when the beaches and towns are much busier with tourists 🏖️
