@umphreysmcgee ’s Blueprints is streaming everywhere & available on vinyl.
This music was created in a completely unique way. For our flagship event UMBowl we’ve had fans vote on their favorite moments of past band improvisation in an effort to recreate those moments as *composed* legos of songs. The band then pieces together multiple legos from the voting, Brendan or Jake write lyrics & vocal melodies over the top and voilà we have the skeleton of a new piece of music. We’ve turned improvisation on its head, it’s now composition.
We recorded the music here in December 2024 in a tiny space above
@metrochicago called Top Note. We worked on these six songs during the day and then performed them live in front of 100 lucky people each night as part of an intimate show/recording/streaming experience.
As a result many of these songs are longer forms. This might be our first real “jam” album.
