I don’t play piano. I write on guitar. But I grew up with a piano in the house and have always loved the instrument from afar. I wrote(?) this little tune when I was maybe 15, without knowing really what I was doing. Just finding my way through. It’s always been the first thing I play when I sit down (which I haven’t in a long time as you can see from the actual literal dust in this shot, on top of my playing). I seem to have the urge to play around the holidays, but I can only loosely describe what I’m doing here. Life has been a tad unpredictable of late, but if all goes according to plan, and it looks like it is, I’ll be playing a stripped down, duo set as part of @echoparkrising at @storiesbooksandcafe tomorrow (Saturday) with all these lovely folks. Music is 12:30-6, and I’ll be hitting around 2:15. Things move fast at EPR, don’t miss it. 🖤
Dare I say it? I think we’re on. After hurricanes and the twists and turns of life over the past few years, I’ll be playing with the band in LA this Sunday afternoon (12/17). New songs, new lineup. I’ll be celebrating in any number of ways.

On my birthday, I want to acknowledge my relative quiet about myself here in Instagram-land. If you hadn’t noticed that, well, I’m outraged. But life has taken some twists and turns over the last year or two, and I’ve found myself starting a new chapter. Given how public we are here, I can’t share the specifics (so obnoxious), but I look forward to it, and I’ll be returning to regularly scheduled programming soon. What I will say is that, for me, starting the next chapter doesn’t mean ending the last one. We’re all a collection of the many selves we’ve tried on over the years. For some of us, the costumes are just a little more obvious. I was a breakdancer in my youth. You heard me. But there’s no subtraction, only addition. Now I’m a breakdancer and a bunch of other things, too. That said, I do have shows coming soon. Much love. ♥️
This ride has been kinda crazy. Here is an interview for The Daily Times of Pakistan, one of their largest English language newspapers. Since my song Incoming was featured in an epidsode Grace and Frankie on Netflix, I’ve been hearing from folks literally all over the world. Mostly I’ve gotten a lot of messages about what the song has meant to them and how it’s seen them through some very tough moments. Those especially mean a lot to me. It was fantastic to underscore a show like that with a legendary cast like that. And what’s happened since is something else. Thanks @saira.agha and @dailytimespak for the kind words. 🌍♥️🙏

I told you this was a dog account now. 🤷🏻♂️ But seriously… This last year was challenging. It wasn’t time like I’ve ever experienced. Movement, change, places, people - all so important to me and what I do. Anyone else? So I just kept gathering pieces and chipping away. A couple of months ago the window cracked open a bit and the fresh air started rushing back in. And when I looked back, I found I had gathered more than I thought. It’s good to be making things again. And it’s good to be back in the world. ✨♥️
