"It’s got a lovely top-end chime to cut thru the mix, while setting a solid foundation for everyone else to build on top of.” - @eianmcneely on his Starfire Bass II.
We caught up with @eianmcneely , who recently brought his custom Guild Starfire Bass II to @coachella with artist @sombr . From massive low-end presence to unexpected sonic textures, Eian shared how the Starfire helped shape his live sound—and why semi-hollow basses continue to inspire his playing.

Welcome to part 6 of our Factory Friday video series, where we highlight the craftsmanship behind every USA-built* Guild coming out of our Ventura County, CA factory.
This week, we focus on neck fitting — one of the most critical steps in the build process. The neck heel is precisely shaped to match the body’s mortise, creating a tight, gap-free, and aligned joint.
This is happening on various USA acoustics, including an M-20 and an F-512.
Follow along as each instrument continues to take shape, one step at a time.

Backstage hangs to main stage moments at @coachella — @eianmcneely and his Guild Starfire Bass II putting in work both weekends with @sombr
A true Guild classic with roots in the ‘60s, the Starfire Bass II has that unmistakable voice — throaty, bright, and full of character. The same spirit that shaped players like Jack Casady and Phil Lesh is still alive here — now driving a new wave of sound in 2026.

This week, we give you an insight into the finishing and painting — the stage where the guitar’s vision truly comes to life. The process involves preparing the wood, applying stain or paint, and sealing it with protective clear coats to achieve a smooth, durable, and aesthetic finish.
In this video, you’ll see a beautiful burst finish being applied to both a dreadnought and a jumbo-style acoustic.
Follow along as each instrument reaches its final form, one step at a time.

Originally introduced in 1968 as a flagship special-order model, the Guild D-55 quickly earned its place in the standard line by 1974 thanks to its exceptional response from players.
Today’s D-55E stays true to its heritage with a AAA Sitka spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony appointments, and a hand-sprayed nitro finish in Antique Burst. Internal refinements, including scalloped Adirondack bracing and an improved dovetail neck joint, make this generation the lightest, loudest, and best-sounding yet.

“The resonance, feel, and overall vibe of this guitar is exactly what I’m looking for from a 12-string. Playing it immediately takes me back to the sound of so many of my favorite records from the past, and it elevates so many types of guitar playing.” — @adamsimons on his Guild F-412 Standard.

“Light and resonant, this rosewood concert is bright and clear…Overall, it’s a nice package that compares favourably to others in its class. If given one word to describe the M-50, it would be 'fun'." - @vintageguitarmagazine .

This week, we dive into body assembly and binding. Watch as the top is joined to the body using glue and a press, forming the core structure of the guitar.
Next comes binding — the outer edge where the top and back meet the sides is carefully routed and fitted with binding, helping to protect the exposed end grain.
