Yesterday, Avery and I left the trailhead as boyfriend and girlfriend. We scrambled in the flatirons and returned to the trailhead as fiancĂŠs.
I am thrilled to spend the rest of my life with the woman of my dreams.
Hi there instagram! I seldom get on here anymore, but today I have some exciting news to share.
After a climbing accident in Yosemite National Park this past summer, I was inspired to start @peakfirstaid a new brand of ultralight first aid kits for wilderness athletes like rock and ice climbers, backcountry skiers, trail runners, mountain bikers, and more. These kits are focused on providing the highest quality components to help manage serious bleeding and treat the most common backcountry injuries.
I know many of you love recreating in the mountains and I want each and every one of you to come back safely from your adventures. Consider upgrading your kit to a Peak First Aid Kit.
Check out all the details at my link in bio.
Summer in the land of rock and ice - I spent 2.5 weeks over Christmas down in Chilean and Argentinian Patagonia day hiking and completing a 116 mile backpacking trip with my buddy @shawnomad .
â˘
The mountains here are incomprehensible in their grandeur. They slice upwards with 5-10,000 feet of relief out of stunning alpine lakes wrapped in glaciers. They are brought to life by 18 hours of summer sunshine cutting through the ever changing weather.
â˘
Image 1: The towers: stretching about 5,000 feet above this lake create thermals that the Andean condor, the largest flying bird in the world soars on.
Image 2: The southern sky is a window into the galaxy unlike anything we are used to in North America, completed perfectly by the southern cross.
Images 3&4: Glaciers carve and compliment every aspect of this landscape.
Image 5: Glacier Perito Moreno is one of the only glaciers in equilibrium and not retreating due to climate change. The 220ft front face calves off regularly in a wild spectacle!

This photo encapsulates one moment from 22 days and 250 miles on the John Muir Trail from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney.
â˘
Despite challenging weather that included extreme heat, seven days with severe hail storms, and getting mildly struck by lightning âĄď¸ I completed the trail without injuries and with a big smile on my face the whole way.
â˘
I wish everyone could have the opportunity to spend the better part of month far from cell service with limitless time for self reflection and prayer.

The mountains were calling and I went to John Muirâs Range of Light

Today begins an adventure of a lifetime as I put my backpack on and begin the John Muir Trail. One year of planning is culminating in this opportunity to spend 23 days backpacking alone in some of Godâs finest creation - the Sierra Nevada. My route of about 250 miles will take me from Yosemite National park through alpine lakes, meadows, and passes and eventually to the summit of Mt. Whitney at 14,505ft.
If you are interested in following along, I put together a simple webpage with some information on my hike. Check the link out in my bio.

.
Take 30 seconds to center yourself. Think of all your stress and tension as merely like a cloud - something that you can rise over and float above.

Fall is present in the Sawtooths! The understory and scattered deciduous trees are ablaze with color. I spend the weekend among this mountain majesty studying and reading. Itâs quite wonderful.

Happy Fourth of July!
.
This Fourth of July is unlike any that we have seen before. I believe the slower pace allows us to reflect on the truths that all men and women are created equal. This allows us to think of how we fall short of those founding principles and how we can work to create a better nation for POC and other marginalized communities. The events in this beautiful city the past few days demonstrate just how much work is needed. #idahoistoogreatforhate

Nestled down 30 miles of dirt and 15 miles of treacherous ruts through deep sand lies one of the most incredible sandstone formations in existence. This place + an eye popping sunset = đ¤Ż

Until Tomorrow...
Is tomorrow certain? There are so few guarantees in this great journey. Every single day is a precious opportunity to live in the most vivid way possible. How will you make today matter, even in quarantine?

Speechless Awe
â˘
After a 4am wake up, navigating a mountain pass, and getting (very) stuck twice; I stepped out of my car, into the -12 degree air, and my jaw dropped. The first light was just catching the top of Grand Teton in a blazing magenta. The color glowed as it crept down the mountain, catching the blowing snow and condensation-lighting the whole scene up in a breathtaking few moments.
