Helen Frankenthaler, XXL! Wrote about a new show at Gagosian that features 22 of Frankenthaler’s largest paintings, some of which have been seen by the public approximately…never! First and second pics are the 13-ft-wide “A Green Thought in a Green Shade” (1981), third is a detail of “Gamut” (from 1968, and likely not seen since ‘69), and fourth is detail of “Auguste” (1977). WOW! Link in bio …

Excited to share my feature in the spring issue of @voguemagazine on artist Carol Bove, whose retrospective at @guggenheim opens this week. Carol is a special person—warm, generous, a deep thinker. Her mighty steel sculptures are a masterclass in contrast. But in spending time with her at her studio last fall, I learned how her earlier (and quite different) works parse through the same contradictions. A thrill to write this one, with gorgeous photos by @nicholascalcott . The issue is out now—pick up a copy (@chloemalle ‘s first, led by a stellar cover story on Rosalía by @abbyaguirre ), or click link in profile to read online💫

The highlight of my year: Jules and I got married in June, the weekend of the summer solstice. Fitting, we thought, given our lifelong pursuit of brightness and joy. We are really lucky to have had so much to celebrate this year when the world feels so raw. In my vows I spoke about being both a comfort and a catalyst for each other: sometimes you need a shield, and other times, a sword. To wield both well—maybe that’s our other lifelong pursuit. Totally riveted by the swirling interior landscapes of @sigridsandstromstudio , whom I had the honor of speaking with ahead of her show at @anatebgigallery - which opens tonight in Tribeca! Sigrid paints with such heart and intuition. See these in person if you can. Link to article in bio

What an immense treat to speak with the inimitable @lilystockman for Vogue’s September issue. Lily’s new show of paintings—tender confections of oysters shells and rhubarb and velvety cowlicks of marsh grass—opens next month at @charlesmoffettgallery in Tribeca. In print and on the web (link up top) now!

Just a day before it closes, I caught the terrific Susan Weil show at the Shirley Fiterman Art Center. Time is her subject, and I couldn’t believe mine today: The artist herself, 95 and still very much making work, happened to be there as well. We talked about the show, and how I loved the draped mint green canvas (slide two), which I learned was titled Three Graces, after her mother. Time time time, indeed.

In January, I had the privilege of visiting the artist Sonia Gomes in her São Paulo studio to discuss her new installation for @stormkingartcenter , set to open in early May. Instead of draping from the ceiling, her enchanting pendulums will dangle from the branches of an oak tree. Incredible! As @larryosseimensah said, Sonia is a legend, and it was an honor to write about her. Link in bio. Portrait: Pablo Saborido.

For the March issue of Vogue, I spoke with Beatriz Milhazes, a leading figure in contemporary Brazilian art, about her fantastical paintings, which this weekend arrived at the Guggenheim. Layer by Layer, she builds up her soaring, sumptuous canvases—swirls and flowers and lace and beads, they are Rio incarnate! Dorothy Hood comes to town! This giant of the Houston art scene had a wild back story and made thunderous abstract paintings—and always wished to be better known. With an upcoming show at @hollistaggart in New York, her first show in the city in 40-some years, maybe she will be. Read and see more (these are but tiny snippets!) at the link in bio
