Despite a few challenges throughout the weekend, the Gorman Performance Engineering team came out of Gridlife Road Atlanta TrackBattle with a solid overall event. The GPE C6 Corvette fought through adversity and still managed to land on the podium even after suffering an engine failure, a true testament to the team’s determination and effort.
The Oldsmobeast turned heads all weekend and received an incredible amount of positive attention. We’re proud to bring a clean, unique muscle car build to the track that’s not only different from the crowd, but competitive as well.
Huge thanks to Jackie for coming down and pushing the car all weekend long. The data we collected gave us exactly what we need to make the olds even faster for the rest of the season. We’re just getting started

Week 27
Coming off a win at WGI in the new build’s debut.
Not every show car is a race car. Every race car is a show car.
New wrap is legit.
Car’s ready. Now it’s time to execute.
On to @gridlifeofficial Road Atlanta with @gormanperformanceengineering

*Swipe for Onboard!* I love a good side quest! Wasn’t planning on Gridlife this year until @gormanperformanceengineering guys asked if I wanted to drive @the_oldsmobeast at Road Atlanta. LS7, BMW DCT, full custom IRS and Bosch Motorsport ABS… I couldn’t say no!
Unfortunately we fought issues all weekend, including the BMW DCT going into false neutral on downshifts and puking trans fluid. Ultimately we elected to retire the Cutlass early in fear of oiling down the track. Still, thanks to everyone for the high fives, thumbs up, and cheers to me and this car twice my age. No idea on next outing yet, but I hope to climb back in the Cutlass again!
PS I had to employ an emergency backup car… but thats for another post!!

Week 29 — Catastrophic Engine Failure
Things were looking incredibly promising at Road Atlanta w/ @gridlifeofficial The car was fast, confidence was building, and we were pushing hard.
Then the backup engine let go in spectacular fashion.
That’s racing.
Fortunately, the next chapter was already underway before this happened.
Rebuilding has already begun.
Car is back to Pat’s shop @gormanperformanceengineering

Swipe to hear this monster…➡️
861 HP - And a torque curve that does not quit.
The last couple of months have been absolute chaos, including a recent blown engine to top it all off.
But somewhere during that storm @borowski came through with this monster, just in time.
This is the next chapter for the 379 car…

The GPE Oldsmobeast is finally coming together 🔧
From in-house fabricated IRS suspension components to dialing in every last detail, this build has been all about pushing limits and doing it right. The pieces are falling into place fast, and we’re locking in the final stages.
If everything stays on track… we’ll be back to racing by the weekend 👀

Last Sunday marked the start of our 2026 racing seaon with the Spring Shakedown 4.0. a full field of cars took to a fast course layout, with tight competition in both classes. When the dust settled, Josh Lipman with his 911 Turbo took the win in the Non Muscle Car Class, and GPE’s own Pat Gorman took the American Muscle Win in a borrowed Camaro. A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made this event another great one! Huge thanks to @jakeallen_photography_ for the awesome pictures! Next up will be the Summer Showdown on June 13th. See you there!
