This weekend campaigners across the country will join together for the first time to oppose Big Tech's unchecked expansion of hyperscale data centres in the UK. Big Tech’s ambition to build more and more energy-hungry data centres is putting the UK’s climate targets at risk, and the Government is letting them. We need to act now before it’s too late. Head to the link in our bio to find an action near you and share this post to help spread the word! @friends_earth @campaignagainstclimatechange @iverheathresidentsassociation @londonmining @iverheathresidentsassociation @corporateeurope @aprscotland @globaljusticenow @biofuelwatch

Wood burning is contributing to serious health conditions for people across the UK and is cutting lives short. 92% of people burning wood in the UK already have another way to heat their home, but many are choosing to install wood burners for lifestyle or aesthetic purposes – inadvertently putting the health of their family and local community at risk. And research shows that if your house is connected to the energy grid, it is almost always more expensive to heat your home using a wood burner or open fire rather than central heating. Share the facts about wood burning this #CleanAirNight and visit cleanairhub.org.uk to find out more.

Students from KTS Academy Brotton, Outwood Academy Redcar, St Peter’s Catholic College South Bank and Huntcliff School came together to share their achievements as part of the Good Life Schools programme in the North East. The Summit celebrated how these young people are creating change in their communities and challenging the pressure to consume. Find out more about the Good Life Schools Redcar and Cleveland Summit via the link in our bio. Reel thanks to @northernheartfilms #NationalLottery @tnlcommunityfund

Join the #StopDirtyDataCentres campaign with @globalactplan to call on the UK government to halt all new AI data centre development until they abide by environmental standards. Really proud to have joined Global Action Plan as an ambassador to keep applying the pressure to put people and our communities over Big Tech’s profits. #ai #datacentres

On Earth Day 2026, students from King Edward VII School in Sheffield took part in a full-day environmental workshop delivered by The Green Estate CIC. The experience supported their Good Life Schools project, equipping students with practical knowledge on climate resilience, biodiversity, sustainable urban drainage, and circular economy approaches. Activities included designing bug hotels, exploring future-ready planting for urban spaces, and developing ideas to better connect communities with nature. Students left feeling inspired to spend more time outdoors and to apply their learning to the development of their school’s balcony green space. A huge thank you to The Green Estate for such an engaging day, and to the students for their creativity and enthusiasm!

Today our team stood outside Drax’s AGM in central London to protest the use of dirty energy to power massive AI data centres. Drax is a power station that burns trees to produce electricity and is the UK’s largest source of carbon emissions. Last year alone, Drax emitted 13 million tonnes of CO2 from burning trees. Now, they want to build a massive hyperscale data centre right next door to their power station, which if approved, could mean they’re supported to burn even more trees than they do now and undermine previous government commitments to scale back Drax’s use. We can’t let the rush to build data centres prop-up dirty energy and undermine climate targets. Sign our petition today to stop Big Tech’s dangerous deals with dirty energy - head to the link in our bio.

STOP DIRTY DATA CENTRES - We spoke to Ollie Hayes of Global Action Plan outside the fossil fuel company Drax's Annual General Meeting in London today - he drew the link between Drax's wood burning business model and its plans to ride the AI hype by providing dirty energy for Data Centre

With just one week to go until many parts of the country head to the polls for local elections, we wanted to give a spotlight to these healthy air groups who have developed some brilliant asks and pledges to share with candidates. Creating connected communities is at the heart of clean air work, so we wanted to give a shout out to these groups who’ve been working hard to ensure we see ambitious commitments for clean air in these elections as well as supporting you to have conversations with candidates over the next week! There’s less than 24 hours remaining to have all donations doubled by @biggiveorg up to our target of £20K. Every contribution, big or small, helps us pursue further legal action and support local communities going up against Big Tech’s vast financial resources and power. Head to the link in our bio before midday tomorrow to have your donation matched! If you can’t donate this time, but still want to show your support, head to the link in our bio to sign our petition calling on the government to Stop Dirty Data Centres until our climate, water and community concerns are addressed. #stopdirtydatacentres #AI #Bigtech #climate

In celebration of #FashionRevolutionWeek, students at both Canolfan Yr Eithin in Carmarthenshire and Ecclesfield School in Sheffield have recently taken part in workshops as part of their participation in our Good Life Schools programme, learning skills to extend the life of their clothes to reduce waste. Workshops like this show how education is a key driver of fashion system change — supporting young people to consume differently, create thoughtfully, and act locally . Thank you to both schools for having us! #FashionRevolution2026 #SustainableFashion @fash_Rev

Yesterday we celebrated a major win for our legal challenge, when the developer of a planned hyperscale data centre accepted that it must be subject to binding environmental conditions, just three months after the UK Government conceded the case. But there are still over 100 data centres in planning across the country, which is why we need your help. There are only 5 days remaining to have your donations DOUBLED as part of @biggiveorg #EarthRaise campaign. Every contribution, big or small, helps us pursue further legal action and support local communities going up against Big Tech’s vast financial resources and power. Links in bio to donate and sign our petition!
