Giulia Longoni is one of the artists showcased in ‘Between a Stone and a Hard Place’ by Nelle Gevers
@nelloid and the one assisting its creation.
.
« Giulia Longoni’s practice follows the nomadic world understood as a network of roads of chance encounters studded with mythical recoveries, decentralised beliefs, sudden incursions, but in the sign of a human landscape tracing that attempts to vivify the material on which it rests its feet.
It is an attempt to make the playful fantasies of childhood concrete, to keep them alive, to realise them. Returning to playful community situations by looking with wonder at the quality and commitment of past traditions.
If the myth of the great hero is crumbling and there is no conquest to be achieved or prey to be killed, let us begin by nourishing the path, giving importance to natural space, to the true protagonist World with its multitude of species and spaces. The quest that passes through surreal constructions and long journeys on foot or by bike is an attempt to be and build a network, to show new possible mythologies, creating new narratives, reconnecting visual realities. »
