We went to Hudson, NY this past week to check in on regular collaborator @peterdaverington ‘s newest interior mural, an amazing contemporary Hudson River School treatment.
We’ve been fortunate to work with Peter on so many different kinds of projects — from large-scale public art to art(sy) construction projects — but this mural is among our favorites of anything he’s done these last 10+ years. It’s even more magical in person than what you see here.

Cosmurology is on view at AUA in Dc thanks to @gitlerand who invited artists to consider urology and all its associations for an unusual show format.
Here are some of the experimentations that brought to the final painting in which the canvas is cut along a continuous line, creating two interconnected shapes painted separately using industrial spray guns and inlayed on wood panel. So grateful to be making prints with the amazing team at Awaaz Studio in India as the Gitler & ____ International Resident.
I’ve been experimenting with combining drypoint intaglio and monotypes, painting directly onto scratched copper plates before running them through the press—something I’ve never done before. It’s challenging but really exciting!

Awaaz Studio is excited to welcome Canadian artist Erik Olson as the 2026 Gitler &_____ International Resident. After graduating from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2007, Erik moved to Dusseldorf, Germany in 2014 to study at the Kunstakademie as Peter Doig’s guest student.
A frequent traveler, Erik’s work focuses on the people and places around him with a bold emphasis on color. Erik has had more than 25 solo exhibitions in cities across North America and Europe, and his work is included in countless permanent and private collections. Recently, Erik had a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Calgary Museum.
Erik is returning to India for the first time since 2010, when he traveled over 10,000km by motorcycle. He will use his time at Awaaz to experiment with copper plate printmaking techniques, informed by the local culture, history, and artists of Baroda.
We look forward to sharing more about Erik and his work soon.
