“An Exquisite Horizon” by ART 494: Relief students (and instructor Daniella Napolitano) is now on display in the 2D Display Case Gallery! The class worked collaboratively to plan a dynamic horizon line connecting their individual 18x24-inch linocut prints together. You can see the exhibition now through the start of the fall semester during normal School of Art business hours.

What a fun night at the @xicoinc 38th Annual Dinner and Art Auction! We especially loved the hot tortilla bar. This was my first year as a contributing artist with two of my mono silk screens in the live auction. Apologies to the MC who had to struggle over the scientific bird names I used for my titles 🫣 Anyway… ¡Somos Arte! 😄

I’m so honored and delighted to be included in both exhibits as part of the Grand Opening of the new Book Arts Studios and Pyracantha Press. “Un-bound” and “From the Archives” are exhibits featuring book and paper works by ASU students and alumni. The new book arts studios are beautiful and it’s so exciting to have letterpress and the paper mill out of their respective basements and in the natural light. And I know Pyracantha is happy to have a permanent home after moving around for years (no more moving thousands of pounds of type!). If you ever have the chance, you should visit the new studios!

Finished this little three-block print for my Relief class’s postcard exchange! Their prompt was to create a design as a way to introduce themselves to the class. I think they all did a phenomenal job. My card was to celebrate Lunar New Year and also I was born in the year of the horse. 🐎
I may do a risograph version of this print to send out because I cannot tell you how much trouble this tiny print gave me.

2025 wasn’t a terrible year for art at all! I’m still mostly doing small prints that are relatively easy to squeeze in between work but I have some solid ideas for larger, longer-form projects for 2026. Hopefully I won’t get sidetracked 🤞🏼
2025 was also a good year for making connections with people! I finally feel like I’m meeting new artists and talking with people about work and slowly becoming a part of a greater art community for the first time since grad school. And if I told you I’d email you to follow up… I promise I’m going to do that SO SOON!
AND I *FINALLY* got to go to a print conference for the very first time! And not only that! I organized an amazing portfolio exchange! Still kind of riding the high from that experience. The “Print a Bird on It” portfolio is something I’ll treasure always ❤️
Work was work. Still all consuming when the semester is in full swing. My students are overall great people though and the art they make is sometimes inspiring. So that’s good (we will not talk about emails, administrative tasks, and how Canvas is out to get me…)

I did another edition of the same bunny block but in pink because why not? I may do some hand embellishments in the shadows because the pink doesn’t read as shadow quite like the light grey. They were originally going to be more Lisa Frank and less Barbie but my block was warped making rainbow rolls very annoying to do.
They’re inspired by a hot pink bunny coin bank I bought years and years ago when I worked on the children’s floor of a clothing store. It showed up around Easter and every shift I’d say “if that bunny is still here I’ll buy it.” It was still there the week before I was going to quit so I had to get it.
