Do you know how tell the difference between our two plastic categories?
Plastic film is for the soft & stretchy plastics like plastic bags, Amazon mailers, produce bags, and bread bags. If you can poke your thumb through it, itās plastic film!
Multi-layer plastic is for crinkly plastics like chip bags, snack wrappers, coffee bags, and produce netting. Multi-layer plastics wonāt budge when you try to poke your thumb through, because theyāre made of multiple layers, generally to help keep food fresh & protected from sun and oxygen exposure.
If you ever have questions about what items go in what category, you can mail or text us and our member support will help you out.
Happy Earth month!!š§”š In April alone, Ridwell members diverted more than 1 million pounds of waste from landfills! Thank you to all our members, partners, and teammates who make it possible!
Ridwell was started by a dad and his 6 year-old son, Owen, when they realized how difficult it was to find places that would actually recycle the stuff that had been building up around their house like plastics, batteries, and lightbulbs. They discovered that many of their neighbors had the same challenge, and set out on a neighborhood mission to make it easier to waste less. That project turned into Ridwell, which was helped members divert 42+ million pounds of waste from landfills ā and helped hundreds of non-profit partners along the way! Weāre committed to making it easier than ever to waste less š§”
