Just after 3pm on Thursday afternoon and I was sitting in a cafe close to where I was staying on E27th St, editing photos from the first night at Terminal 5, when a got a text from Spider saying I could come and shoot the soundcheck at 4:00pm… raced back to my room and grabbed my gear, then a mad dash to catch the uptown 6 and then the M31 across town… got to the venue right at 4… and the truth is, I’d kinda forgotten how much fun it can be to see/hear/photograph a soundcheck when it’s a band that you love - especially if you can wander around on stage and take fly on the wall photos while singing along… the band ran through a bunch of favorites for around an hour and sounded just feckin glorious - I knew it was going to be a GREAT night. And so it was.

A week today, Saturday 5th April, 1000 minutes of Longplayer’s 1000 year long score will be performed live at @roundhouseldn from 7.20am till midnight.
The score will be played on a giant ‘Bronze Age synthesizer’ made up of 234 singing bowls, by an orchestra of 36, including 18 young creatives from @roundhouseldn and some incredible musicians including @georgevjestica@legoldston@germsfinally@spiderstacy1@gina.birch@susiehoneymanviolin@ansuman.b@jem.finer@andrewkotting@susanstenger@oshinbiswas
Audiences are invited to come and go as they wish throughout the day, and there will be a brilliant programme to explore across the day. Longpoem, a 100 minute poem curated by @caleb.femi will be performed at 12pm and 2pm, and tickets to Longplayer Live provide access to this event as well as others.

'Longplayer' is a 1000-year piece of music that's been playing since 2000. 25 years in, and it's a fortieth of the way through. A thousand seconds of it is going to be performed live on the 5th April at the Roundhouse in Kentish Town, London. I am privileged to have be invited to be one of its players - for maybe 1/9.5057034e-10 of the total duration.

@daniellevonz and myself got married thirty-five years ago today. What a day. It's still talked about (stolen jewelry, a fight, that sort of thing). Look at that cake. My mum baked it. My dad decorated it. We still have the flags that went on the top.
