Buttons! Of! Schiaparelli! Including but not limited to: silk carrots, radishes and cauliflowers, enamel globes (for world solidarity during WWII), and a naked mermaid (worn by Jane Clark to George VIIās coronation, no lessā¦) Special mention for the (slightly fuzzy) peanut brooch and three perfect gloves š„š«
Canāt think of a better way to spend #IWD than with my mum at Rose Wylie @royalacademyarts . The 91-year-old rebel painterās work is full of life and zing and fun - just like my mama! #RoseWylie
LOVED speaking to the wonderful and eternally interested Adrienne Salinger for this weekās @fthtsi . In the 80s and 90s she photographed portraits of teenagers in their bedrooms, compiled in a time capsule series āTeenagers In Their Bedroomsā, now back in print and available to buy!!
Biggest thanks to @bayasimons āļøāļøāļø
Here is empress Diana Vreeland. She is sitting for Deborah Turbeville, who took this photograph as part of her 1990 series āPassport.ā The image, more of a hybrid object than a photograph, has been ripped, pinned, and aged in a very Turbeville way: it looks like it might have been found in an old drawer, fallen through time.
I interviewed Karen McQuaid, curator of āDeborah Turbeville: Photocollageā at @thephotographersgallery , about the dusty, dreamy, uncanny romance of Turbevilleās creative universe. The interview is linked in my bio and the exhibition is on until Sunday. Go!
For @thevioletbook . Thank you @acjournal@leithclark šššš #deborahturbeville
