We’re still thinking about @ellamayphoto ’s debut solo show, “A Seat At The โต๊ะ (Table).” A stunning acheivement. 🍲✨ Developed through her time in @nextwave ’s Kickstart program, Ellamay immersed herself in the home kitchens of seven subject-collaborators of Asian heritage: Eduardo Knox, Juliet Burnett, Linda McBride, Wendy Ma, Sam Kenneally, Lia Ribeiro de Noronha and Mariam Ella Arcilla. @eduardo.knox_ @julietburnett @lindamcbridee @marzigold @kaomoji.ceramics @sam_kenneally @psychade.lia Ellamay shared sharing a meal as a way to explore food as a powerful conduit through which identity and culture are actively nurtured and transformed. We loved every moment, exploring the hand written recipes, listening to the mungbean radio and gathering together to enjoy a bowl of congee! #flashback Friday! Here is Kathy Mackey bringing her vibrant swimming artwork “LOYL” to Far North Queensland for this year's Cairns Festival 🎉🌴 @klm186 teamed up with local artists, the Sassy Catz, and the Cairns community to dazzle crowds along the Esplanade Lagoon with a display of twirling pool noodles. Redefining leisure for the over 50s age group has never looked more iconic. ✨ Proudly supported by Cairns Regional Council Image Credit: Shamrock Space Studio

The smell report is in! Earlier this year, artist Lowana Davies hit the streets of Miami with her team of smell experts close behind. As an olfactory artist, she guided us through the latest murals from the @SurfaceFestival , showed us some unexpected ways to get a prime sniff, and even taught us how to find our safe smell space with an orange. 🍊 We had an absolute blast exploring the city in a totally new way, fuelled by a mean cup of coffee from the legends at That’s Whlyd Coffee Roasters. ☕ Head over to @lowanaskye ’s page to see what smells piqued the group's interest, and to answer the age-old question: can you smell through a photo? This is the last week to see A Seat At The โต๊ะ at @outerspace.brisbane 🌱🥭🍚 Don’t miss out, final day this Saturday 11 Oct! A Seat At The Table explores food as a conduit through which identity and culture are continually shaped and redefined within the Asian diaspora. Central to this work are the stories of seven Asian Australian participants, all of whom currently live or grew up in Southeast Queensland. These personal histories reveal how cultural and ancestral connections are actively nurtured and transformed through the simple act of sharing a meal. Subject collaborators: @eduardo.knox_ @julietburnett @lindamcbridee @marzigold @kaomoji.ceramics @sam_kenneally @psychade.lia Creative collaborators: @sam_kenneally @marzigold Gallery documentation: @jadeellisphotography Acknowledgements: Kickstart is @next_wave ’s flagship creative development program for early-career artists. Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald’s participation in the 2024-25 program was made possible through the City of Gold Coast Arts and Culture Unit and @generate_gc . The future is in our hands... and that means looking after our climate and moving towards a sustainable future in which our communities are resilient and thriving 🙏🏻 Recently, the City of Gold Coast released its ‘Council Plan for 2022–2027.’ Embedded in this plan are goals for our city’s natural environment, climate adaptation and disaster resilience. Together with the council’s Climate Resilience and Sustainability team artists Melissa Spratt (@create_originate ) and Tal Fitzpatrick (@talfitzpatrick ) are hosting a set of community workshops to talk about the council’s plan and discuss our aspirations for the city’s future. To capture these conversations Melissa and Tal are inviting participants to contribute to a collaborative textile artwork made using upcycled denim which will be exhibited in libraries across the city 🧶 As part of these workshops participants will be provided with a morning tea and they will also take home a native seed bomb to plant in their garden. Participation is free and family friendly (for ages 10 and above, under 16’s require a guardian in attendance). Click our Link in bio to reserve your spot now. Located across the Gold Coast: 🌱Friday Oct 3rd: Upper Coomera 🌱Saturday Oct 18th: Coolangatta 🌱Friday Oct 24th: Broadbeach— which is International Day of Climate Action. Led by artists Tal Fitzpatrick and Melissa Spratt, each gathering is a chance to craft with purpose: contributing to a community quilt while weaving stories, thoughts, and hopes for a resilient portal to future. You’ll then get to continue these important conversations in your own circles with a take-home native seed bomb. A few weeks ago we kicked off Lab #1 with our 2025/26 cohort artists! 🚀✨ Here are a few snippets of our time together: spinning, deconstructing, shaping, questioning and ‘birthing the work’. 💭🌀👐 Huge thanks to all the incredible provocs who so generously shared their practice, what drives them, and guided our artists through the chaos & magic of early creative sparks. Special shoutout to our lead provocs @hannahbronte and @tristanmeecham , your expertise, fire, and generosity is everything to this program. It’s always a privilege to have you in the room. Next up: Lab #2 in early October, stay tuned… 👀🔥 Image Credit: City of Gold Coast #GenerateGC #GCArtsAndCulture #OurGoldCoast #ArtDevelopmentAustralia #GoldCoastArtist #GoldCoastCreatives #ArtsGoldCoast
