Fear Management (1987), a portfolio of eight screenprints by

📍On View in our current exhibition “Ziggurat” through March 29.
The series features emblematic designs resembling coats of arms, each incorporating symbolic imagery that reflects the group’s satirical examination of societal fears and the influence of media.
During the 1980s, General Idea often explored the effects of media and advertising on fear and control, particularly in the context of the AIDS crisis, political propaganda, and consumer culture. Fear Management likely plays on these themes, using irony and appropriation to critique how fear is manufactured and exploited within society.
