Riverside Routes - Design and Press with ITGirls Studio for Parents and Babies! Wednesday 18 February 10:15am - 12:15am Staiths Space, Staiths Road, Dunston Join designer Paige Richards @itgirls_studio to design your own t-shirt, mug, coaster or tote bag. In this workshop you’ll create your own design from either painting, sketching, collaging or bringing images or pictures to make your artwork Your finished designs will be taken away and professionally pressed onto your chosen item and your custom piece will then be ready to collect in 2 weeks from Gateshead Central Library. Please note that this session is for parents with pre-walking babies. Tickets £5 - Each ticket admits 1 adult and 1 babe in arms. Ticket link in bio. Coffee Connectors: Ceramics with Megan Randall Tuesday 10, 17, 24 February, 3, 10, 17, 24 March 9:30 - 11:30am (with making starting at 10am) @thestaithscafe Join ceramic artist @meg_makes for this special series of workshops as part of Staiths Cafe’s Coffee Connectors group. Coffee Connectors is an informal get together of people who would like to chat to others, maybe make friends, and find out about services and activities in the Dunston/Teams area. The session takes place every Tuesday between 9:30am – 11:30am in the Glass Room at The Staiths Cafe. Megan Randall will join the Coffee Connectors sessions until the end of March. Across the sessions, you’ll be creating shrines to the local area, nature, memories and more. Megan will show you how to use text and sculptural techniques to form a visual story using earthenware clay. All pieces will be fired by Megan and be displayed at Staiths Cafe! Absolutely no experience is necessary, and everyone is welcome. You do not have to participate in the ceramic sessions to come along to Coffee Connectors, you can join in as much or as little as you want. No booking necessary, just come along. Staiths Art Club is back! Each month you can take part in a new activity at @thestaithscafe . Each month you take part in a new activity from wreaths to textiles, printing to sculpture! All sessions are adults only and take place on a Wednesday evening, 6pm - 8pm. Get ready for some festive fun! Three special Christmas workshops are just around corner as part of our Riverside Routes programme. Booking link in bio for all workshops. Riverside Routes: Ceramic Christmas Decorations with @meg_makes for Parents and Babies! Wednesday 3 December 10:15am - 12:15pm Staiths Space, Staithes Road, Dunston Join Gateshead artist Megan Randall who will be helping you create ceramic Christmas decorations. You’ll create your decoration from clay before adding colour. You can add your baby’s footprint, handprint or any text you’d like. Megan will then take your decorations away to fire in the kiln, you’ll be able to collect them from the Staiths Space prior to Christmas. Please note that this session is for parents with pre-walking babies. Tickets £3 - Each ticket admits 1 adult and 1 babe in arms. THIS WEEKEND, Saturday 8 November, 10.30am - 12pm, Gateshead Central Library Gallery. You are invited to an exhibition opening event to view and celebrate the wonderful work of artist @janeyoungart along with a number of exhibiting Art Diamonds who collaborated with Jane on a nature inspired project. Come along, view the works, meet the artist and talk about all things art and nature. We will also be providing some small refreshments. We hope to see you there. Tuesday 28 October Make a Spooky Creature with @rrrugrat @thestaithscafe 3:30pm - 6pm Join Milly Radley to create a little spooky pal using pom poms, yarns, felt, carboard, pom pom makers, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and craft sticks! Suitable for primary school aged children and their families. Free - drop in! Thursday 30 October Cardboard Creations with @chrisdabbles @tyne_derwent_way Staiths Space, Dunston 3pm - 5pm Join Chris Folwell for an afternoon of making, playing and creating using cardboard. You’ll play with textures, shapes and build a cardboard creation to take home. Suitable for primary school aged children and their families. Free, just drop in! Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 October Summon Your Spooky Glow with @orbiscommunity Orbis Community 10am - 2pm on both dates Take part in this free Halloween themed workshop with Orbis and summon your spooky glow! A wonderful chance to learn new skills, laugh together, and get moving! 🎵Strum Along with Ukulele Fun! ⏰ 11:45am-12:30pm A lively ukulele session where children can discover the joy of making music in a fun and friendly setting! As part of Project: Play Gateshead on Wednesday 29 October join @gatewaystudiocio for a day of play, movement and adventure! Upstairs in the studio get involved in a whole host of free workshops - go on a bear hunt, explore the jungle and hop on a broomstick with Meg and Mog. Workshops are suitable for ages 3 - 7 years and their grown ups. 🐻 10-11am and 2pm - 3pm- Follow us on a journey through the pages of the classic tale, Going on a Bear Hunt. Bringing the story to life through movement play and sound. Wellies optional!! 🧸 11:15-12:15pm - Grab your favourite teddy bear and join is in the Jungle as we lead you through the classic tale, The Jungle Book. Learn fun moves and dance like Baloo to the tune of The Bare necessities. Don’t forget your soft toy and fancy dress optional. 🧙‍♀️🐈‍⬛ 12:45-1:45pm- Get in the Halloween mood by joining your favourite characters, Meg and Mog, for a magical, mystical mix of movement and play. Make your own wand and bring your spells to life. Downstairs, families can drop by throughout the day to take part in creative play with Gateway. A programme of themed play times will take you on a magical adventure! The play sessions are aimed at children aged 0 - 3 and their families. On Tuesday 28 October GemArts are hosting a bumper day at Bensham Grove Community Centre, all workshops are free and must be booked in advance. 🎶 10am - 11am - Project: Play Gateshead - Baby Bollywood Dance Play rhythm games and learn about Bollywood beats in a calm and engaging workshop led by dancer, Madhura Godbole.
