As @bbc celebrates 100 years of service I thought I would share one of my many fun moments of working with them over the years.
Two-time BAFTA award-winning #DickandDominDaBungalow ran for four years, three of which were live Saturday mornings on @bbcone
An anarchic children's programme which gained cult status due to many jokes being aimed straight at the parents, rather than their kids!
In this episode, donning my white coat and stethoscope I played a comedic doctor whose patients were suffering with the fictitious disease Scabymonstrosiosis!
Upon entering the Bungalow for some banter with hosts Dick and Dom I introduced the arrival of my patients - six large, bald, topless men covered in chocolate body paint and rice crispies!
The contestants aka Bungalowheads then had two minutes to vacuum off as many rice crispies as possible - Proper television!
Being live on TV brings a special energy - It feels like theatre, with an adrenaline running through every action you take and every word spoken. You know that what you do now is being seen and heard in thousands of people's homes!
Backstage and behind the scenes was equally fun. I played two more characters in this same episode; with the race against the clock to get me out of one costume and into another and scrub the make-up (and rice crispies!) off my face, before making-me-up into a new guise and then throwing me back out in front of those big studio cameras again absolutely thrilling!
The climax of the programme was a gameshow feature, culminating in a gigantic food fight!
As numerous buckets full of custard, baked beans, rice pudding and other mucky delights flew across the studio...and we slid across the studio floor, I saw the enormous expensive cameras watching us and thought to myself "Wow this is great fun....&...How are we getting away with this?!"
It's really a fitting tribute to those legendary food fights to see some of the best chefs in the country today; many of whom I've had the pleasure of hosting shows with, now battling it out on #SaturdayKitchen in that same slot, Saturday mornings on BBC One.
