Currently recovering from ACL surgery and indexing my photo catalog. A surprise to me, this set is from all the way back in Oct 2023 with @tom.r.black for @on . I’m pretty terrible about sharing work and need a kick in the pants every so often. Itching to get back out there.
Spent a week in Nosara, Costa Rica with Adele at the fantastic @olasverdes and atv’d up one morning to visit @finca_campos and meet Don Vidal and his family. Toured his coffee farm, ate fruit straight from the trees, and shared an unbelievable meal. I took a few portraits before he sat back in his rocker for a mid-morning snooze—after 3 cups of coffee and some sugar cane…Pura Vida indeed.
Costa Rica’s natural beauty is certainly in its landscape, but also in its people. They’re incredibly gracious hosts and have a profound admiration for the land they call home. The region of Guanacaste is named after their national tree, which is colloquially referred to in English as the “ear tree” due to the shape of its seed pods. I like to think it’s inviting you to sit in the shade and listen— maybe that’s what Don Vidal was doing all along…
+ No matter where I go, I find myself still looking up at trees and still getting excited by graveyards. (I’ll ask my therapist what that means.)
