Our clients had purchased two 3BHK flats, one on top of the other, with a clear vision: to transform the two separate units into a single, cohesive, and tranquil home that perfectly suited their lifestyle. Their request was for a space that felt calm, safe, and cozy, with a modern aesthetic that subtly nodded to Indian traditions. The focus was on creating intimate zones for family activities, such as reading and playing board games, rather than a large space for entertaining.
The renovation was an extensive spatial reorganization. We began by physically connecting the two floors with a custom-designed staircase—a sleek metal structure with warm wooden treads, anchored by a unique stone column featuring delicate Indian carvings. This element became a central artistic focal point, blending the modern and traditional styles seamlessly.

Design Philosophy
The design paradigm prioritizes experiential quality over visual aesthetics. Given the site's constraints, with three orientations abutting neighboring residences and the east-facing orientation bordering the main approach road and public park, the design leverages this singular orientation to maximize natural light and ventilation.
Spatial Strategy
The residence is designed to optimize daylight harvesting and cross-ventilation. Large openings on the east facade facilitate natural light penetration, while smaller openings on the west façade provide controlled ventilation, creating a comfortable indoor climate.
Facade Design
The facade's modern aesthetic is characterized by clean lines, minimalist ornamentation, and a nuanced balance of solids and voids. The design elements are carefully composed to create a visually appealing and contextually responsive building envelope."

As one enters into the house through a shaded walkway with an entrance patio, the house has a clear central axis in the E-W direction which divides the first private block into two bedrooms on either side, opening out into private sit outs on both floors.

The house is planned on a typical 60’ x 90’ parcel of land located in the northern peri urban extents of Devanahalli, Bangalore. Designed for a family of four along with their three four legged companions, the project attempts at creating shared spaces for humans & animals alike while also seamlessly transitioning between indoor & outdoor.
