Gallery EXIT presents ‘Dreams of the Pantomime Horse’, a group exhibition featuring works by Hilarie HON, LAU Sze Man, and the artist duo Dorothy WONG Ka Chung and Benjamin RYSER. Taking its cue from the figure of the “pantomime horse”, a single animal body animated by multiple performers, the exhibition follows artists moving through a world in flux as they listen, gather, and bring back a constellation of stories to be shared within the exhibition space.

安全口畫廊呈獻聯展「啞劇馬之夢」,展出韓幸霖、劉詩敏,以及藝術家組合黃加頌及Benjamin RYSER 的作品。展覽名字借用自「啞劇馬」的形象,一個由多人共同扮演的動物身體,藝術家在平衡世界裡聆聽和收集各種故事,回來到展場逐一分享。

Stephen WONG Chun Hei’s painting series ‘The Star Ferry Tale’ is currently on view at the Hong Kong Museum of Art as part of the group exhibition ‘Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition’.
‘The Star Ferry Tale’ is a series of eleven large-scale oil paintings offering a cosmic, panoramic view of Hong Kong. Inspired by space documentaries, the non-linear narrative merges history, memory, and fantasy to create a Hong Kong space epic. The works feature galaxies above Victoria Harbour and Lion Rock, with whimsical touches like the Star Ferry reimagined as a spacecraft, poetically meditating on Hong Kong’s smallness beneath the infinite sky.

CHAN Wai Lap’s installation ‘Shall We Share a Seat?’ is currently on view at the Hong Kong Museum of Art as part of the group exhibition ‘Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition’.
This work provides a quiet yet incisive social commentary on how we negotiate shared urban space, personal boundaries, and intimacy. Drawing on everyday observations, such as the residual warmth on a recently vacated seat, the artwork transforms the ordinary through a series of pre-marked sun loungers. Ultimately, ‘Shall We Share a Seat?’ critiques our inhabitation of public places and illuminates the dynamics of being together and apart.

Fares THABET’s latest paintings depict serene, yet paradoxically complex, imaginary scenes—sandy beaches, turquoise seas, and tangerine skies—often incorporating subtle signs of human presence like lone figures or abandoned cities.
His intuitive approach prioritizes color and light. The process starts with walks and low-quality black-and-white photos, followed by painting without detailed sketches, first establishing a background tone, then progressively building form. This method allows for spontaneity, resulting in what the artist calls ‘an unplanned journey’ on each canvas.

Fares THABET 近作呈現一種矛盾而和諧的氛圍:沙灘泛起玫瑰粉紅的暈染,海水漸變為碧綠色階,暮色轉為柑橘般的橙橘色。這些寧靜景致多源於想像,卻隱約留有人類活動的痕跡——孑然身影、飄然小舟,或與周遭環境幾近融為一體的廢墟,使畫面在疏離與親密之間保持微妙張力。
其創作核心是一種直觀的繪畫方法——將顏色與光線視為媒介。創作往往始於在周遭環境中的漫步:藝術家拍下刻意低畫質的黑白照片,為日後注入情感與色彩保留了空間;作畫前鮮少起草,而是先確立主色調,再逐層堆疊形態與細節,讓過程本身引發出意想不到的啓發。每一幅畫作皆如他所言,是一段「沒有預設目的的旅程」。

Dony CHENG Hung translates moon-phase charts into floor-based dark spheres, detaching and spatializing time. ‘Stretched Duration’ features a single sphere, suggesting suspended time. ‘Time Without Sequence’ scatters the phases, reflecting the fragmented pace of contemporary life.
Responding to the tension between natural and abstract time, Cheng employs Musou Black, an ultra-light-absorbing pigment, to evoke a sense of calm and pause. The airbrushed acrylics and textured surfaces, showing hand-applied marks, intentionally resist the smooth detachment of screen-based media, inviting a tactile, bodily engagement.

鄭虹的創作靈感來自天文圖表,特別是「月相圖」。她將月亮轉化為地面球體,使時間脫離自然,成為建築空間中的具體形體。在「Stretched Duration」中,暗色球體在封閉空間內靜置,時間彷彿懸停。在「Time Without Sequence」中,月相散落,呼應當代生活的碎片化節奏。
這些構圖呈現自然時間與抽象時間的張力。作品選用超強吸光顏料「無雙黑」營造暫停感,儲存對寧靜的渴望。作品以噴槍塑膠彩和肌理處理製成,抵抗屏幕的光滑疏離。清晰可見的手工痕跡邀請觀者以觸覺和身體感去感受作品。

Hazel WONG Mei Yin’s practice is shaped by her recent life between Sapporo and Hong Kong. Extensive travel has made movement central to her work, with vehicle interiors becoming spaces for quiet observation. Her painted landscapes, though real, carry personal memory, exploring distance, time, and human connection.
This exhibition marks a new phase in Wong’s practice. Compared to her earlier work, these paintings place greater emphasis on the relationship between outer landscapes and inner states of mind. Working with acrylic on carefully prepared wooden panels, she builds and then sands the layers of paint to create soft, restrained surfaces with emotional depth. Images of snowfall, night scenes, and open skies capture fleeting moments and the passage of time. Alongside the paintings, Wong presents recent experiments in printmaking, particularly mezzotint. Drawn to its rich blacks and subtle tonal shifts, she finds the depth of the medium closely aligns with the sensibility of her paintings.

黃美諺的創作靈感源於近年往返札幌與香港之間的生活經驗,以車廂為過渡場域,將「移動」作為貫穿創作的核心情感。畫面中的風景承載記憶與情緒,折射出藝術家對距離、時間與連結的持續思考。
本次展覽標誌著藝術家創作語言的轉向與深化,更集中於風景與心理狀態之間的關係。她以塑膠彩在木板上反覆堆疊與打磨,形塑出柔和內斂的畫面質地,捕捉轉瞬即逝的感知經驗。同時,藝術家亦展出近年嘗試的銅版畫作品,特別著迷於美柔汀技法所呈現的深沈而細膩的層次感。
