it’s been a couple weeks since #nashyarnfest Look at this fabulous yarn that came home with me from @lolabeanyarnco ! What will I do with 4 wonderful skeins of DK weight yarn with tweedy bright nubs? So glad you asked! 💙 I have the most wonderful crew and a burning wish to have a uniform for us to wear on set—my dream is coveralls with our names in script kind of like old fashioned mechanics and of course said coveralls will fit perfectly on our not-actually-off-the-rack bodies ….so it has never happened. I had the fantasy that maybe I’d sew them for us. 💙 picture 2- Last summer i had the huge pleasure of a week in a Hack Your Jumpsuit Pattern sewing at @shakeragworkshops with @libbyobryan who designed the Bumper Jumper @openstudiopatterns and you can see how amazing we all look. And it took allllll week to make my bespoke coveralls in full concentration on that and nothing else! So I CAN do it but also I will not be making them for the crew . 💙 picture 3 here we are! On the left is the best Booth Bitch ever , @mlegandesign ,then me in my ersatz hootenanny fit,then @arianamclean and @missladybugg95 , my amazing team. No crew uniform. 💙 pic 4- we did have these handknit booth and name tags by @kaygardiner . These made me ferklempt. So much love and stitches! 💙 Some booth views,The Yanas (Ariana and Yliana who are both talented and brllliant ) helping people choose their images after we photogrpHed,that’s @pattyjlyons of course. 💙 The Party Sheep and a visit from @ggmadeit 🧡. We were lucky to have our booths close to where she was working with Adella Colvin at @lolabeanyarnco . This year I’ve been lucky enough to spend some quality zoom time with them for @knitstars and what a joy to chat in person! 💙 And finally back to Adella who picked these skeins out for me . She is a color genius for real—her yarn is spectacular. I am painfully undecided when it comes to colors so she put together the two grays and intense citron yellow that i love for me. We decided i’d make UNIFORM HATS for the crew! who needs coveralls anyway?! Adella chose the coral pink for Ylianas accent color and Ariana requested a kerchief style . Keep an 👀for us!

So I’ll let you in on a secret 🤫 I originally only planned to film 8 masterclasses this Season. My goal was to go deeper with each Star, capturing more about their life, their thinking, their creative process and their technique. And yes, we’re still doing all of that…but I just couldn’t help myself. I decided to add two “bonus” masterclasses because they just fit in so beautifully with our theme, Your Season of Genius. Do you ever stop to think about how GENIUS knitting is? That someone way way back looked at a sheep and thought how can I turn what’s keeping them warm into something I can wear? And instead of just taking a sheepskin off the animal , they sheared and processed the fleece into yarn, dying it and plying it and then using a stick or two and a@series of@loops and knots turned it into something that isn’t just functional but also beautiful. And isn’t it amazingly GENIUS how we are still coming up with new designs, and new combinations of stitches yet it’s still the same process of fleece to string to knitwear? …. I loved this image from a late 2024 photo shoot for @farmfiberknits ,of @flor_1503 modeling a Salt Spring Cowl in this zingy colorway. I also loved the detail shot we made,where she was holding a duck and I came in tighter on the garter stitch texture. So i am thrilled that it ran in the just released print issue! It had appeared online too as originally planned but there’s something about a nice big printed page….if you haven’t seen Farm and Fiber Knits magazine go treat yourself!
