Only a few weeks away from the release of Mimi and the Silly Sea Lion. It’s surreal to finally see it coming to life. I’m deeply grateful to @artsunitedsp , @marinemammalcare , @sanpedrolibrarylapl and the many others credited in the book for their guidance, help, and support along the way. A special thank you to the students of @pointferminpto , whose artwork now lives in these pages 🫂

I’m so very much excited to share that I’ll be illustrating a bilingual children’s book — and we’re inviting local kids to be part of it! I’ll be hosting a free clay workshop with @pointferminpto where youth will create ocean and sea lion-inspired artwork that will be featured in the book. 🦭🌊
The sea lion theme is inspired by the amazing work of the Marine Mammal Care Center, and it's a fun way to help students learn about ocean conservation through art 🪸🌀🌊
This project means so much to me — it brings together my love for illustration, my inner child, and the chance to create something meaningful with and for community. Can’t wait to see what the kids dream up! 🐠🫧🌀🪸

🐠Date: Tuesday, October 7
🐠Time: 3:00–5:00 p.m. (after school)
🐠Location: Point Fermin Elementary School, San Pedro
🐠 Ages: 8-11 years old (3rd-5th grade)
🐠Capacity: San Pedro Residents only, space is limited, reserve your spot today through Linktree 🐠
🐠Parent/Guardian Requirement: One adult must stay with their child for the full two hours

The world is full of textures and designs, every piece of it can be picked apart and looked at more carefully for inspiration! This drawing is unfinished but I love the background and I wanted to take some time to appreciate it :) it’s wavy it’s melting it’s pretty.
