Tonight the winners of the German Jazz Awards will be announced. I am very honored to be nominated and happy that my deconstructed propaganda music has found the way to that many people.
Maria Faust Sacrum Facere was formed in 2014 as an eight-piece ensemble to represent a distinct strand of my compositional voice. The group was conceived to create music that challenges and stimulates listeners while drawing attention to the darker aspects of human experience.
Thank you to the amazing people of Sacrum Facere- Kasper Tranberg, Mads Hyhne, Jonatan Ahlbom, Francesco Bigoni, Anders Banke, Emanuele Maniscalco, Peter Ole Jørgensen but also all the previous players who have put their voice and energy into my music and ideas.
Thank you to @sundancemusicdk and @deutscherjazzpreis

VIVA EROTICA (Helsinki) + MARIA FAUST (live)
In collaboration with the Finnish erotic film festival VIVA EROTICA, we present a unique film programme curated from the archives of Theatre WHS UNION (Helsinki).
Expect a rare selection of 16mm prints: nudies, early pornographic films from the 1930s–60s, and erotic animation — playful, strange, and surprisingly poetic.
To bring these rare silent erotic films to life, the screening will be accompanied by a live performance from MARIA FAUST — an internationally acclaimed Estonian saxophonist and composer known for her bold, expressive sound and genre-defying approach. Her live score will transform the programme into a one-of-a-kind audiovisual experience.

"Looming peab olema n-ö timeless, aga ükski partei ega võimuorgan ei ole timeless. Iga hea kunst on poliitiline, aga poliitiline kunst või muusika ei ole kunagi hea. See on ohtlik," rääkis Maria Faust saates "Plekktrumm".
