Bedtime in India!
For xmas this year, in lieu of office gifts I purchased a bed kit from Sleeping Children Around the World @scaw100 .
A bed kit contains a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net, clothes, towel and school supplies. Pictured here is the child in India who received our kit! May she have sweet dreams from now on.
For about 9 years now a group of amazing colleagues and I have been sponsoring a child in Niger named Limo through @plancanada . This is Limo on the left with her cousin Maimouma. Limo is now 12 years old. She lives in a mud hut with a straw roof. She was very sick this past year but luckily has recovered with treatment from a healthcare team in her community. Sadly, Limo does not go to school. She has to stay home and help her family. Limo's father passed away when she was very young. It is always nice to receive updates on Limo to see how she is doing and to see how much she has grown. But we have never received a picture where she is smiling. Her life is not easy but I do hope she has some happiness tucked away somewhere inside. She makes me very grateful for all that I have.
