One of techno’s underground heroes, Function has been DJing and producing for over three decades. With his first record released in 1996, he marks 30 years of output, a milestone to be celebrated at BASSIANI on April 27. Infrastructure NY label head, a core member of the Sandwell District and the LSD supergroup, , with Luke Slater and Steve Bicknell. Brooklyn-born David Sumner was brought up on the diverse musical landscape of the New York underground in the 80's. His influences ranged from Kraftwerk, Bambaataa, Man Parrish, Baker Robie, to The Human League, New Order, and Depeche Mode. Function released his first record in 1996, on Synewave and his own Infrastructure imprint, and together with Regis, worked as Portion Reform. Since moving to Berlin, releases have followed on Ostgut Ton, Tresor, Detroit Underground, and many more, while holding legendary residencies at Berghain, Bassiani, Tresor, and Basement. Joining him is UK producer Carrier. Since the early 00s, he co-founded Commix, a duo that became central to the evolution of drum & bass. Intrigued by new artistic horizons, he slowly gravitated towards the spirit of techno, culminating in 2011 with the Shifted moniker and his pioneering Avian label. In 2023, he committed fully to building something new from the ground up, unveiling Carrier, distilling influences from the golden era of drum & bass, dub techno, and experimental electronics. Nastia Reigel is known for sleek, uninhibited DJ sets, a distinct sonic approach, and a steady stream of releases on heavy-hitting techno labels such as Infrastructure NY, fabric, WSNWG BTZ, and Token. Sound researcher Sarah Wreath. with over two decades spent collecting records, her relationship with music is the result of long, patient craftsmanship rooted in vinyl, deep listening, and an intuitive understanding of ambience and flow.
