So much love and respect to the whole Bassiani crew and all of the fans that came out and stayed to the end of our first FUNCTION 30 night. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to curate this special anniversary event and allowing me to invite some of my closest friends to celebrate it with me. More than playing, it was important for me to host everyone and made it a point to pick each of them up from the hotel and escort them to the booth for their sets…and still manage to play a nine hour closing set (with some b2b assistance from Nastia Reigel in the later hours ;) And then taking the reigns over again and playing some left of center and not so left of center classics…playing “the last track” for over two hours… It was a long night but it was fueled by the same child-like energy that got me into this in the first place. On Monday we released a new podcast with @reclaimyourcity A lot of my recent mixes have been live recordings, so I used this as an opportunity to take more of a selector’s approach and do it as a two hour studio mix that has a much deeper, meditative feel, opting for long smooth mixes and letting the tracks speak for themselves. No effects, no flash, sometimes not even mixing… Since it’s the 30 year anniversary of my first release the mix is somewhat of a promo mix of things to come, compromised of loads of unreleased material… Original tracks and remixes from myself, upcoming collaborations I’m involved in, some amazing remixes of me by respected colleagues, unreleased tracks from upcoming Infrastructure releases, tracks from close friends and others that I’ve been playing in recent months by artists whose music I love. REC43 w/ Function A quarter-century at techno’s altar, and the devotion hasn’t dimmed once. Back in January for @tssrct_rec ’s label night, the American DJ & producer @function.infrastructure made a three hour long appearance in Room 01. A ride for the spirited one, hypnotising from start to finish, and backed by decades of room reading along finely tuned intuition. As one of techno’s most respected legends, and a favourite producer to many DJs, he continues to summon that skill with ease, making this one of early 2026’s standout moments already. One of techno’s underground heroes, Function has been DJing and producing for over three decades. With his first record released in 1996, he marks 30 years of output, a milestone to be celebrated at BASSIANI on April 27. Infrastructure NY label head, a core member of the Sandwell District and the LSD supergroup, , with Luke Slater and Steve Bicknell. Brooklyn-born David Sumner was brought up on the diverse musical landscape of the New York underground in the 80's. His influences ranged from Kraftwerk, Bambaataa, Man Parrish, Baker Robie, to The Human League, New Order, and Depeche Mode. Function released his first record in 1996, on Synewave and his own Infrastructure imprint, and together with Regis, worked as Portion Reform. Since moving to Berlin, releases have followed on Ostgut Ton, Tresor, Detroit Underground, and many more, while holding legendary residencies at Berghain, Bassiani, Tresor, and Basement. Joining him is UK producer Carrier. Since the early 00s, he co-founded Commix, a duo that became central to the evolution of drum & bass. Intrigued by new artistic horizons, he slowly gravitated towards the spirit of techno, culminating in 2011 with the Shifted moniker and his pioneering Avian label. In 2023, he committed fully to building something new from the ground up, unveiling Carrier, distilling influences from the golden era of drum & bass, dub techno, and experimental electronics. Nastia Reigel is known for sleek, uninhibited DJ sets, a distinct sonic approach, and a steady stream of releases on heavy-hitting techno labels such as Infrastructure NY, fabric, WSNWG BTZ, and Token. Sound researcher Sarah Wreath. with over two decades spent collecting records, her relationship with music is the result of long, patient craftsmanship rooted in vinyl, deep listening, and an intuitive understanding of ambience and flow.
